I just caught his kicking highlight reel on ESPN and have a few questions for those that are more in the know than I am.

1. Does he really get that much height on his FG and PAT kicks or are the goal posts lower at the top? On every one of his kicks (I think the shortest was a PAT and the longest was about 33 or 34 yards) the ball went through the uprights at the very top of them or even over them.

2. Also, everybody talks about how strong his leg is and how excited they are that he will be able to put the ball in the endzone for a touch back. But on the one kickoff they show the ball barely makes it to the end zone (and as everyone knows, he will be kicking 10 yards farther back when he gets here). Not hating here, just curious as to whether or not there is another video showing the strength of his leg that everyone is excited about.

Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

Nobody's perfect.
He tried a 49 yarder against Byrnes and barely missed, but IIRC it was near the top of the upright when it passed by.

I'm sure they showed the "near endzone kickoff" for more of a placement of the ball rather than distance. There are many instances of him kicking thru the uprights off the kickoff.

There is a video of in game highlights from his junior season that I saw and I don't remember seeing any kickoffs that were not out the back of the endzone. He has a HUGE leg. I think the only bad thing is that S.T.A. has such a good offense that he never gets to kick field goals. I think that with some practice and training on accuracy over the next 9 months he will be lethal next season.

Yeah, I have no doubt that if he were on our roster this year, the ball AND Mount Cody would have gone throught the uprights!

i honestly think we will use him like a Pat Macafee. His first year he will take over the punting job and handle kick offs while developing his field goal kicking. His sophomore year he should be doing it all. This kid can really punt

High school goal posts aren't nearly as tall as college/NFL ones.....thats the reason he looks like he is kicking it so high.

If we keep improving steadily, we will never use this kids leg by the time he's a sophomore.

The game I watched the announcers described him as having an NFL leg. Not many high schoolers with that much leg. He definately would have kicked off for us this year if he were on campus.

IMO, This is an area that CLK really needs to continue to look at. In Memphis game,
PAT's still looked way to low. Maybe Lincoln still is not 100%. :ermm:

Not sure but those goal posts look more like college height. As does their stadium look like a small college. He is playing in South Florida which is a whole different animal than Tennessee high school football. On the kick offs, there is one video that is about 7 min long on rivals I think, I only saw one that didn't clear the endzone easily and the returners foot was on the back line of the endzone. My question is, will he also be the punter? He has great distance as well as anywhere from 4.5 to 6 second hang time.

I seen him at the team hotel before the game going into pre game meal where he proceeded to jump over the rope leading into the room,,,, he is fine. Just kicks low. I thinks thats all we have now, bring on Palardy!

I go to all the STA games and have for many years. I also have a son who attends the same camp as Palardy. If you remember, the Citrus Bowl and Lockhart Stadium are college fields with college posts. Look at his film again and watch his PATs and any field goal attempts. Watch the Byrne game and watch him kickoff.
His ball gets up immediately with strength and height. The only time he has missed a PAT or field goal is because it has been blocked due to missed line blocks and the D standing in the backfield, not missed. His only ligit miss was during Byrne game and he was shooting for left upright due to wind. Miscalculation on his part , but at least he uses his head when going in to kick. By the way, that 49 yd attempt went 10 yards behind the posts. Last game, he kicked into a 25-30 mph wind due to the hurricane and cold front that were in the area. He had two KO's to the back of the end(translates into a kick to the goal line in college into a stiff wind) and with the wind, it was ten yards out of the back of the endzone. You're focused in on one KO that he hit the goal line. You have a kicker right now that, if he hits the 10 yard line you're happy...same distance. He will hit the endzone often in college.
He also had a 32 or 34 yd field goal, down the middle, into the same wind and cleared it by 15 yards. Into the same wind in warm ups, where the other kicker was short on 50 yd attempts, he hit his by 5-7 yds to spare into the same wind.

Dont' worry, he kicks off in the camp he attends from the 30 and still hits it 8 yds deep into the endzone. He hit 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70 yard field goals in a row and just missed a 75. He has all the tools already. His mechanics are consistent and the whip in his leg has the ball jumping off his foot. When he hits it right, you can actually hear it. He will get stronger and heavier as he matures and I'm sure you will sit back and enjoy. His punting is amazing and his leg finishes just above his waist. When the mechanics are right, the ball consistently will go 70 yds with what seems like very little effort. You are getting a gem! I only hope that my boy can be close to what this young man can do.

1. I have been to 3 STA games this year. His FG's look to have good height on them. I have also seen him punt a few and he really gets some good height on his punts.

2. He does have good strength but believe it or not, the backup kicker (ben hopfinger) has the stronger leg. On kickoffs, I would say that Hopfinger has him by 5 yards and also kicks it higher. I would say that Palardy's kickoffs would land at or around the 5 if he were to kickoff his freshman yr at UT.

Wow. Seriously. I'm pretty jacked up about that. Actually more excited about the punting. If we can get him to punt that well here, we will never give up a return yard (a la Florida this year). Pretty exciting stuff.

Hopfinger does not have a stronger leg. Palardy outkicks Hopfinger on a regular basis. Palardy does all the kciking into the wind for that very reason. Kick for kick Palardy consistently outkicks Hopfinger. Check with Coach Conrad. Hopfinger has a strong leg, but he is inconsistent and from the 30 Palardy is 8 yards deep and Hopfinger will hit the goal line. Don't know what film you watch or what games you saw, but there is a reason that one starts over the other.

Ok for example, this past fridayagainst SB. While kicking into the wind, Palardy was unable to kick it into the endzone on more than one occasion. Both times Hopfinger kicked into the wind, he put it atleast 3 yards deep. Everytime I have seen both players kick, hopfinger has kicked it further.

BTW, Coach Conrad doesnt know crap. Coach Shep is the better Coach.
