ACE1E3E9-A08D-4A6D-9DF2-0422EBBAD154.jpegThe statements from Trevor Lawrence make out like the student athletes will be sent home without athletics. I am not sure this is the case. Does anyone know how this would work if the season was cancelled?

Most colleges/conferences gave said they will honor anyone's scholarship who opts out of playing this season. So I would think if the college is open the kid is there. Bowl games and some of the non school year practices would be the difference.

He may be referring to the schools that are closing campuses and going online only.....ie....without football there is no reason for them to be on campus just like everyone else. He's right too, for a lot of these kids school would be better for them than home life.

I just saw that Justin Fields is saying the same as Trevor Lawrence. So are they speaking about distance learning from home?

Not sent home - they'll just be outside the structure of the football program if the season is cancelled. No protocols, no 2x per week testing, etc.

I want the universities to send the IRS a 1099 for each athlete.
It would be hilarious for schools to start adopting what the Pac 12 students asked for in their list of demands. The group of people that is screaming the loudest for them to be paid, and that the current system is exploitative, would then immediately pivot and claim that the system the students proposed is wildly unfair for a variety of reasons.
