ok, so here is the scenario...
Florida has the ball with about 35 seconds. The score is 17-6. So in order to tie UF will need a FG and a TD with a 2 point conversion.
They had the ball at the 31 yard line. So if they line up and kick a FG the score is now 17-9. (if they make it of coarse)
The time that would run off the clock would be about 5 seconds. So you have 30 seconds left to kick an onside and go for the tie. (you are going to have to kick an onside anyways)
Instead, I see them throwing the ball for the endzone. I see teams do this all the time. I know it is a long shot, but it's a better chance then running the time out by trying to drive.
Is there strategy to not go for the FG first?
