Why is it that every afternoon or night the media has a different source come out and say that the deal is dead?
It it Rucker tonight, Lowe last night, Hubbs and Hyams yesterday afternoon. Then the next morning there is more evidence that ever that things are still going on and seem to be progressing.

Why does the media not go to the parties involved and ask for a clarification before putting out false information? Gruden has shown that he would respond to false information if asked. He may split hairs but he would give an answer.

My underlying motive to these questions is putting these so called experts in front of Gruden with their unintelligent assumptions. Now that would be real entertainment.

How do you know the information is false? Why do you assume a reporter can get an interview with anyone they want?

Because it is a regular 24 hour cycle. If they believed their information was true the first time they would not have to keep repeating it every evening.

So, it's a conspiracy theory about reporters vying not to break the story?

Spot on. If you shut the door the first time, and you know it's shut, there's no need to go close it again....and again.

Obviously, it's not dead. If it were, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Because here's the thing....even if UT doesn't get Gruden, it shouldn't have any trouble with the amount of money we now have to go and get whoever.

But I honestly think it's done, and our AD is at the point of no return with the negotiating it's done with Gruden.

exactly to believe this you have to believe that every Tennessee beat reporter is holding off breaking the biggest story in college and the NFL so they can keep getting access to UT even though breaking this story would be a career maker that would get a reporter a promotion out of Knoxville.

My theory and TIFWIW is that the reporter from Memphis and/or from Chattanooga were going to leak a "UT comes to terms with Gruden" type release tonight and the UTAD wanted to cast something negative out there to preempt it until both sides are ready for the release of information. Comparing the Rucker release to the Gruden control issues, it just doesn't add up.

Keep in mind, information from a private meeting never gets released unless someone wants it to............

I did not say conspiracy. I just stated the facts and asked why?

Let's see if we can clarify what you are saying.

Are you claiming that "The Media" which consists of thousands of reporters is selecting one of their own to come out every night and knowingly lie to you about the status of the Gruden hire? That "The Media" knows Gruden has been hired but are not breaking the story just to string you along?

Is this it?
