What if anything is paid for when you come for an unofficial visit?

I know a guy that is going on an unofficial (I think), what I was told.

His tickets are paid for along with his moms, dads, and brothers. He will also have a hostess.

Not sure how this works.

Can someone help?

I was under the impression that unoffical means you pay for everything out of pocket. It sounds to me he is on his offical but I could be very wrong.

Well see thats the thing. I know he has to pay for his stay. Just not the tickets. I was under the impression you are under.

Yeah you get to go to the game free and everything and you can do almost everything an official visitor can, they just cant pay to put you up for the night or treat you to dinner or anything like that.

In softball,

On an unofficial visit, the coaching staff can only speak to the recruit and family members while the recruit is on campus. Unlimited number of Unofficial visits allowed. No limit to contact while on campus.

On an official visit, the clock starts ticking once the recruit hits campus and has 48 hours to visit campus and then leave. Recruit spends any amount of time with coaching staff and players, attends class in anticipated major, sleeps over with some of the current "Host" players. Tours the facilities. Recruit is allowed 5 total official visits but only 1 visit to any one school.

Unofficial visit, cost of travel is paid by recruit family. Cost of lodging and meals paid by family. Tickets to game(s) for recruit and parents paid by school. Additional family members attending (grandparents) paid by family.

Official visit, cost of travel and lodging for recruit paid by school. Cost of travel for parents and additional family is paid by recruit family. Since recruit usually ends up staying with "Host", parents can and would end up staying in recruit's paid room. Official dinners and lunches for recruit and parents paid by school. Additional tickets to game and meals (other than recruit and parents), other family members, are paid by the family.

These additional tickets can be exchanged with school preferred seating.. this is so the recruit and all family members can sit together in the stadium.

Recruit and parents are provided pregame and halftime meal at the games underneath the stadium. Additional family members meals are paid by family but can participate in the activities.

This is for softball recruits but I would believe that they are similar for all recruits. Each sport has their own NCAA guidelines.
