Why is congress wasting time and money on Roger Clemens? Correct me if I'm wrong but why waste this time?

Can't let a guy blatantly lie and everyone aware of it then do nothing about it. Same reason Pearl got hammered over something simple.

shouldn't have been the first hearing for him to lie.

the whole thing is a waste of time from day 1

Waste of time, but almost has to be done. I hate that it's more grandstanding time for everyone, especially Clemens and his attorneys.

Put the above 2 posts in reverse order. It makes perfect sense that way.

I could be wrong, but I thought he pushed for the meeting and then acted like he was untouchable during the meeting, thus leaing to where we are today with the trial.

Didn't Clemens request the meeting with congress?

I'm not sure, don't feel like looking, sorry.

But I think he'd have been free to say 'no thanks' to going there, would he not?

bham, BPV, TRUT, or one of those folks would be a better reference, but is anyone obligated to go to congress for questioning without being under suspicion of a criminal charge?

So his criminal charge would be lieing to congress under oath?

I would imagine that Congress could subpoena anyone; just as you could receive a subpoena to appear as a character witness, even though you are not being charged with anything.

The initial hearings and investigations were worthless, IMO; however, they occurred and Clemens blatantly lied to Congress, under oath. Even more wretched was the fact that he threw his wife under the bus in order to save his own hide.

Now that's foul

But TRUT, if he wasn't accused of a crime, what does that do to his rights as to appearing/testifying?

Just wondering, in context of the LCN guys who gleefully took the 5th before congress for a week or so straight.

You can always appear and plead the fifth instead of answering with anything that would incriminate you. Sometimes, to avoid this, Congress will offer "immunity" for any true statements made in a hearing.

Not sure if he requested but I don't think he had to participate IIRC.

I'm pretty sure you're right. Think I saw the other day that he didn't have to go (nor did he request the hearing), but elected to go himself so that he could try to "prove" he was innocent. Obviously in hindsight, that was a big mistake

I agree with you 110% coach!!!

What congress should be investigating is if
the president is soaking his federal credit card in
steroids!!!
