Question for the board.

That first half was an utter disaster (aside from our first TD drive) in every phase of the game.

I don't think even Hendon could drag us out of the hole we buried ourselves in.

Hooker might've picked up a few more first downs with his legs, but it's not like Hooker could make the defense get a stop in the 1st half, or stop the O-line from making non-stop stupid mistakes. Nor could he stop Florida's DBs from holding / PI on most of our deep passes and the refs turning a blind eye to it.

Maybe Hooker could bail us out with some runs, but I don't think QB is the main issue. When the defense can't get off the field, the other team just plays keep away and we never get a chance on offense regardless who the QB is.

I think he would have helped in the run game some possibly but the OL is not good right now.

Score might have been a tad different but same results unless you want to play last years Wide outs too in your scenario.

I really don’t get all of the Milton hate following that loss. A few of his passes went into the dirt and it was dumb to lob up a prayer on the INT, but other than that, he didn’t play too bad and likely would’ve done enough to win had our line protected him. Also, what were there three drives that we started behind the sticks because of false starts? The o-line and corners really hurt us in the first half.

This season was entirely going to rely on Milton and if he had improved. He hasn’t so all we can do now is hope for the best with no expectations going forward.

Do you think we would have won if we had Hooker playing last night?
Honestly yes. Hooker was a top 5 in the country type of talent who could see and interpret, react to a lot of things and he was an uber mobile qb that defenses had to scheme to slow down. Far more natural and mobile, could move from the pocket and pass accurately and his command and energy fueled the team. Is there a difference between having a great qb and an adequate qb ? Let's inquire of Nick Saban. His qb play has taken a small step back.

All other things being equal, it would have been a little closer but hard to say he would have. Hooker is one of the best and most underrated QBs this University has seen. I think another way to look at it is how many of the other greats that we have seen at UT also have lost that game. The OL graded our horribly.

I think the would look drastically different with either Hooker or Golesh back.
Not positive that we win without either of them involved with the defense but they offense would have some rhythm.

Don't think Hendon could have worked enough magic to save us last night. It was the Gators night. Now if Hendon played and Cooper Mays was healthy and playing, that is amother story.

Don't underestimate Darnell Wright's value last year. OL with Mays and him there made a huge difference. Our OL, was a huge part of Milton's problem.
If Mays returns in form and Mincy is out of the doghouse and ready to play up to his potential, we should be a bit better on the OL, but there's still that defense to worry about. Herring looks the part, but still has a way to go. Carter is so young. Not quite sure what to do at this point in his career, but you have to think his athleticism is needed on this defense, but it's the secondary that really galls me. Are our freshmen that lost? Are they that far away that a guy like Hadden keeps his job? I could make the same argument about a couple of others in the secondary, but for the life of me, I can't understand what it is that the staff sees in Hadden. That "bump" in Etienne was humiliating for anyone associated with the UT football program. Pathetic.
