I am as pi$$ed as anyone with the effort tonight, I thought we lacked emotion and the intensity we had played with in the Georgia and SC game.

We continue to get beat on the edge as we cannot get containment, on 3rd downs we are getting out of our rush lanes and letting the QB break long runs for first downs, we continue to get beat in the secondary especially on one side.

I have played college football but not at a BCS level, I have coached some football at the Middle School and some High School Level, so I think I have a pretty good eye when it comes to recognizing talent.

so my question is everyone on here talks about the talent we have on this team unfortunately i do not see it. I think we have some talent that passes the eye test and the obvious being North, Sutton and see flashes with some players like pig, Vereen and Dobbs.

Can Someone please list all this talent we have?

You could list the talent that we have but it makes no difference unless that talent decides to show up for the game.

yeah right they have to show up, so can you list?

Our best players for the future that are on the team now are Danny O, Carr, Veeren, Justin King, J. Miller, North, PIG, Dobbs, Riley, A. Sanders, Weisman, Maybin, Randolph, McNeil, Sutton, L. Johnson, M. Jackson, Foreman, Crowder, Kerb, Sals, Jenkins, and Maggit. AJ will be gone or u could list him and Paul Harris, Vickers, and Croom could be guys that could contribute still too. I think AJ and Tiny both need to return next year but we will see.

There's talent and then there's SEC quality talent that can Win against the best in the country.

There's a huge difference in the 2 talent types.

For a decade or so now the only real consistency our Vols has really had is the consistency of our player talent going down, down, down with a very few exceptions here and there.

To be able to WIN consistently in the SEC and against the best teams in the country, like Oregon, wqe MUST have SEC starter quality players all over the field AND on a solid 2 deep gameday depth chart and we're simply not even close to having that depth of player talent yet.

Getting to that point WILL take several years of really good recruiting on a consistent basis but we do have some good talent to start with that are Sophs and Freshmen so we have hope and a small amount of SEC type starter talent to build upon.

Most don't want to hear the facts and truth around here but that's just the way it is.

If we're competing for a SEC East and a SEC Championship in 4 or 5 years then bUTch and his coaches will have done a very good job of recruiting and coaching up the talent and Vol Nation just isn't a very patient group of people because we all want serious WINS and we all want them right damn now no matter what reality actually happens to be.

You can recruit all the talent in the world 4 and 5 stars have top ten classes on rivals. But if you dont develop the talent then its worthless, we have a group of worthless 4 and 5 star upper classman because the last staff couldnt develop or coach. Effort cant be coached you either have to desire to be the best or you dont give a crap.

The Dooley "loser" mentality will take a couple of years to get rid of. CBJ is making strides ( see win vs. USC), however, when things go wrong, especially on the road, most of the players still tend to fold like a cheap tent. A couple of great recruiting classes and molding his own players will change the mentality of this program. Give CBJ some time and we will be competitive week in and week out, not just every now and then.

I have no idea as to why but I question if the players, most of them at least have truly 'bought in'....I know they, the coaches, we all say they have...as everyone did with Dooley and Kiffin...its one of the first things expected and in some cases they actually believe it but that kind of change is difficult....profound change...its not unlike changing a believe...changing an action is much easier than changing a belief....
And when we lose, when some elements of the team play better than others and you feel as though they don't 'care as much as you do' , when people question you and you feel as though you're doing the best you can its difficult to remain 'bought in'...

We have little talent outside a few young receivers and db's. AJ has a lot of heart but he has the speed of an o-lineman and our o-line is the most over-rated unit in America. We simply do not have the talent to compete with good teams right now. Quit fooling yourself and blaming coaches. This is a rebuilding project that will take years. You were the morons expecting a win, no one else in America did so now you are upset that the team did not achieve your expectations.

Oh and by the way, it is also a majority of the fan's ridiculous expectations that got CPF fired and the two boy wonders hired in the first place. So, we are where we are and it will take a while to get back.
