Who is the fastest prospect, position not important, in the 2010 class?

Reason I ask....it seems to me like speed should be a huge point of emphasis for UT. I thought Nuke was "supposed" to be fast, but he was run down by a safety. I thought Gerald Jones and Denarius Moore were "supposed" to be fast but it seems they rarely get separation (although that probably has as much to do with who's throwing the ball to them).

I suppose my question is....is there anyone out there that is "Chris Johnson fast." I realize how extremely rare that is...but I'm curious.

Harvin fast would definitely suffice, for certain.

Still....anyone? Fastest guy in the '10 class?

You're putting too much emphasis on speed.

In football, it's not how fast you run, but how fast you twitch.

Let Lord Vader go ask Hubbs or someone on Scout and he'll get back to you with an answer from one of his sources.

LaMarcus Joyner had incredible speed against top competetion in Byrnes so you know he is rapid in comparision to anyone

I look for sideline tantrum power in a prospect.

Yes, but we can't expect every recruit to have "Brandon Warren sideline tantrum power". We'll have to take a handful in the 2010 class who only have "Nick Stephens sideline tantrum power".

the fastest is probably Jose Jose, have you not seen him on the base paths for the new york mets, he really will be back next year and a great leadoff hitter...

Fast does not a good football player make, but I see what you mean....and I agree that twitch is VITAL, but IMO, speed is more important than twitch, especially the SEC, b/c the skill position players in the southeast have great acceleration AND speed. And while its extremely important to have a team that is quick to react and well conditioned, the team with the most top end speed is usually the most successful.

Speed on offense is something I think we lack. We're quick, agile, fluid, well conditioned, but we're not a team that will burn the D very often...and if we do it's b/c of a busted coverage or a guy being out of position. The guys who are supposed to the our speedsters have yet to break one...and there have been a few chances.

I know big plays depend a lot on good QB play and its likely a big factor for the lack thereof. However, I think an underlying problem is that there is a lack of top end speed, especially at the skills positions. And it's something I'd like to be addressed in recruiting.

So...that's why I'm curious. Who is the fastest 3 star+ recruit out there.

nuke is fast. there is a difference between being run down and the saftey taking a good angle and forcing him to the sideline

:eek:lol: doucher. Jealous much?

Am I jealous that when you post on VQ, you copy and paste stuff from Scout, VN and other places or when you are here you post stuff from Scout and and Rivals and pretend they are inside sources?

Yes.

The easy answer to your question is probably Joyner, but there may be a sleeper out there that is faster.

Well I haven't seen the replay on TV but from section Q it looked like the safety was running with him more than he had a good angle.

Its not a knock in Nuke persay, there are some really fast Safeties out there (EB) but I just thought he was faster than he appears to be.

I would say Ethan Grant, a running back committed to Oregon. He claims a 4.19, which I don't believe is true, but he still does look incredibly fast when going in a straight line. But, from what I saw on youtube, it doesn't look like he has any ability to make people miss.

Happy 1000th post to me.

It's hard for me to believe that he's noticeably faster than Chris Johnson before he has even hit a college S&C program.
