I'm not sure if I'd consider them mercenaries, but I do think they're a good idea. They keep US troops from having to act as babysitters for Senators and other whatnot VIP's who want to venture over there for a photo op or two.

Are the Blackwater mercs a good force in Iraq or a bad idea?

Not only a good thing, a GREAT THING.

We need an extreme amount of protection on a LOT of places/people in Iraq and the military does NOT have enough men to do it all. Nor do we have the resources and knowledge to do certain missions that the men will go on.

I understand that not everything they do will be up to the best standards but well...you know, what else can we do at this point.

There have been a LOT of media articles written about members that are true and terrible and there have been a LOT written that is over-blown, untrue, and exaggerated.

Thanks I just wanted to hear it from a person who can speak the truth without any slant.

As long as they are willing to be open to oversight and not hide anything. Every company that deals in government contracts and bids should allow open access to all operations and dealings. If there are security concerns then leave it to cleared legislative oversight. As long as they are contracted by the US government they should be held to the same laws, regulations, rules, etc. as the government and military.
