We are planning a trip to see the Vols kick some gamechicken butt on September 30th. We would like to rent an air bnb either on the river (if there is one) and travel via boat to the game. Are there slips to rent for the game at Calhouns? My son bought a big VOL NAVY flag and wants to experience this. We will have just the one boat but about 6 people total. Any advice or information would be appreciated. I started my son at birth on his indoctrination to Tennessee fandom. I think he has eclipsed me in his passion for the big orange. He went to the game vs bama and his fiance said he had tears in his eyes. Appreciate any feedback. I'll hang up and listen.

No slip rental needed. They have a Facebook page, at least last I remember. They’ll be able to give you good particulars. Advice: keep it in idle when you get close and get there early. People are friendly, but don’t hope to have your boat out right on the dot of when you want to leave, so allow time accordingly. Bring plenty of beer and then bring more lol.

Excited for you guys to get to share this experience! Make sure to rent boat asap, if you haven’t already. Can’t wait to thrash USCjr. Flying up from Tampa for it. Go Big Orange!

We have never moored at the docks at Calhoun's, although they are free too. The main Vol Navy dock is just upstream from the Boathouse. Boathouse docks belong to UT and are reserved for big donors. Main Vol Navy dock is free game for first come, first serve. Docks are property of TWRA. You will be lucky to get a spot dockside that early in the season unless you arrive mid-week. So you will likely have to tie up and walk across swim platforms and other boats to get to the dock. Everyone is friendly. If you tie up with other boats, make sure the ones between you and main channel are leaving at or before you plan to leave. Many stay the night. Make sure you have enough fuel and supplies for the duration of your stay. We have been told that Volunteer Landing Marina will not bring gas and ice to boats starting this season and they no longer sell beer at all. I have not confirmed that though.
