Howdy all,

I'm trying to get a feel for your conference, and what its like to play in it, and I just have a question or two.

I hear alot about the passion the SEC fans have and I was wondering if this translates into total hatred of every other school in the conference? Or are there some programs that you would wish well on when you aren't playing them?

For example, I absolutely despise t.u. and texas tech, but a program like Nebraska I would root for when we aren't playing them, because after road tripping there last year the fans are top notch IMHO.

So I guess my question is: Is the any love at all in the SEC? Or is this conference all just pure hatred?

speaking for myself I only despise Florida but I still want them to do well when we are not playing them, Bama -Tenn rivalry is the best in college football and I would trade my left gonad to beat them but I still respect their traditon and program(some of their fans I wouldn't urinate on to put the fire out but they still have a good football program) , I also like to see the Iron bowl, the egg bowl, the cocktail party, and all the other big rivalry games (includes most SEC matchups) so I wouldn't call it hatred just intense dislike come gameday. ( I do have some bama fans that are great friends and we would do anthing for each other.... except on game day!)

Alabama is the prime culprit of "pure hatred" in the SEC. They hate everyone. Heck, I'll be for all the SEC teams in the bowls. I kinda like AU and LSU. So, IMO the SEC is quite competitive, but hatred does not abound. P.S. Who the hell is t.u.?

As a Tennessee fan, I pull for almost any SEC team when they are playing out of conference. All except for Alabama. I live to see the Tide wash out. We are all pretty supportive of one another, except when we are playing each other in a game. That is just my opinion though.

Well, everyone on this board knows who U.T. is, right? The Vols and Aggies know that U.T. is the University of Tennessee.

t.u. is the lesser school in Austin. Gig'em

Texas A&M War Hymn(what other schools might call a fight song):

Good-bye to Texas University.
So long to the Orange and White.
Good luck to the dear old Texas Aggies,
They are the boys who show
the real old fight.
The eyes of Texas are upon you.
That is the song they sing so well,
So, good-bye to Texas University,
We're goin' to beat you all to --
Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem!
Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem!
Rough! Tough!
Real stuff! Texas A&M!

Saw Varsity's Horns Off (normally follows War Hymn)

Saw Varsity's Horns Off!
Saw Varsity's Horns Off!
Saw Varsity's Horns Off!
Short!

Varsity's Horns are Sawed Off!
Varsity's Horns are Sawed Off!
Varsity's Horns are Sawed Off!
Short!

-this is where the famous swaying occurs, a sight to see for sure!

Aggie04 & 12thMan--

I usually pull for all of the SEC teams in out-of-conference play except for Georgia (I'm a UT alum from Georgia). The only time, and I mean only time, I pull for the Dawgs is if it somehow helps the Vols (SEC standings, BCS, bowl game hierarchy, etc.).

Alabama is a real love-hate thing for me. I respect them, their tradition, etc. They have the best fight song in all of college football (yes, even better than ND's). I think their fans are OK, too. Never had any problems with 'em. They're arrogant, though. They can spout off stats from the Grapefruit-Onion Weed Bowl played in a blinding snowstorm in 1910. You get the point. However, a group of Bama people blame us for their current NCAA trouble...and the war in Iraq, high gas prices, etc.

Auburn, Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss...they're OK. Most of their fans are cool. There are always the drunken ex-fratholes who give their school a bad name (reference: think of SMU but with a decent football team).

My worst experience with opposing SEC fans has been with Kentucky (or Kensuckme)...in Knoxville! Somehow, their "attitude" during basketball season can be enjoyed all throughout the year. They just plain hate us. We consider them our poor country cousins who we keep inviting to the family reunion even though they embarrass themselves (and others). They're always "wait til basketball season!". And we're "uh, this is the South...please go to the Big Ten".

Hope this helps. Looking forward to Dallas.

Im an SEC Homer. I pull hard for SEC teams usually.

But in the past few years, I ve been dispising BAMA. Not the team mind you but their fans. We used to have one of the greatest and best rivalries in college football. We still do, if you can look past the S**t being stirred up by crybaby BAMA fans. I respected the hell out of BAMA when we lost 11 in a row and when we went 9 in a row without a win.

Now that we are dominating them (9 of the last 10), I hope they lose. 0-11 isnt good enough for me. I want them to own the nations longest losing streak at 1,235 games before its over.

But I pull for the 11 other schools (when they arent playing UT that is).

I usually pull for all of the SEC teams when they are not playing against us, except for Florida and Bama. I don't know if I'll pull for Ole Miss anymore after they fired Coach Cut.

For the most part I'm for the SEC teams except when Steve-O was at Florida due to one of my best friends experiences there during a UT/UF game, and I'll probably go back against them now that they canned Zook and brought in Urban. The Tide/Vols rivalry was one of the best in the country, but I think now it's a blood fued since their program isn't as successful as it used to be, and their fans are always talking trash and cannot handle ANY SEC team having anykind of success, much less us.

I pull against UGA in certain situations, and for them in others.

And now that Steve-O is in Columbia, I'll pull against them except when they play the Gators.

I have nothing against the KY program, but their fans are terrible.

I'm a Pac-10 fan, mostly Oregon State... But I'm a former classmate of Ainge's, so I pull heavily for the Vols now. But just the Vols -- I respect other teams in the SEC, and am amazed at the tradition of Alabama football, but I do not pull for them. Just Tennessee.

My position is quite simple.

When talking to my Tennessee buddies on this board, I hope everyone else in the SEC losses their game and makes UT stand on top

BUT

When talking to friends or family of other conferences, the SEC is far and away the best and I hope they win just to shut them up

Hmmmm....cousins at Bama? You might get a Genetics consultation before deciding to have kids if your family tree branches that-a-way.

I have followed UT all of my life, and had the privledge of going to school during the NC. That being said, I have pride in the conference. I have respect for the tradition of schools like Alabama (bammers are a different story).

Think of it like family, we get into some of meanest, knock-down drug out fights. But when it comes to an outsider against one of us, we generally stick together.

amen...I dont really hate any teams other than Florida, Bammer, LSU, and Georgia. Auburn is a rival, but usually the games are real close and very competive (much like the seccg this year) and they always give a good fight, most SEC teams do thats why this is the greatest conference in college football.
