We will be able to sign 30 and enroll 27. That means we can sign and place 3. What happens if we sign 30 and everyone ends up qualifying (both on-the-fence JUCOs Brown and Stanley make it in as well as all high schoolers)? Do we have to send 3 to JUCO? Are we able to let 3 out of their LOI so that they can go play D-1 elsewhere?

Just wondering - because it seems the best move on our part now is to sign as many as we can (30), see how many make it in, and then figure out who to enroll.

Thanks to whichever guru can clear this up for me

I'm not a guru, but I believe they can be released from LOI to play. I know that there are sometimes limitations put on who they can transfer to play for, but I'm not sure about that before they've actually enrolled.

Don't worry about this stuff it will work out. Worry about playing Oregon, Alabama, Florida, and LSU next year. That's something to be concerned about.

According to what Sab says, I believe we would have to let three players out of their LOI and they could go to other schools. We can ONLY sign 27 that can enroll at UT (8 already enrolled in Spring and 19 in the Fall). It sucks, but those are the rules.

GBO!!!!

How do the early enrollees that backcounted against last year's class work then?

This is the recruiting forum, so it is a fair question.

From the way i understand it... they can:

1.release them from LOI
2.grayshirt, put them in juco
3.go part time and register january next year and still have 5 yr eligibility...
4. walk on, so if we sign all we need, a 2 star could walk on
