Question: Smokey howling in Neyland?

Watching some old Vol games (just watched the Arkansas vs Tennessee game in 2000 where we beat them 63-20 after going up 35-0 after the end of the first quarter), and I noticed they would play a sound bite of Smokey howling over the speakers in the stadium after touchdowns. When did we get rid of this and why? I thought it was kind of cool and I bet it annoyed the crap out of opposing fans back in the day lol.
