Who will we play, and when? Any surprises on SEC matchups next season?

Last season, when 2024 was announced, I was able to make hotel reservations quickly and got good rates on the rooms, no two night minimum or anything like that. Also, I realized that a week in the Smokys sandwiched between the Florida and Bama games would be great, so I set my google calendar to remind me in April to make my camping reservations ( window opens 6 months in advance). It worked out perfectly.

Have to say, these night games are killer for me. I have a 4 hour drive, so I like the day games to do an up and back. Hope we have more of those next year.

Thanks. That helps a lot. A year or so ago, I was thinking we wouldn't get another chance to break the swamp streak for a long time. I hope we take advantage and get that monkey off our backs. Is a 9 game SEC schedule ever going to happen?

I honestly don’t see the incentive for the 9 game schedule now. This committee has shown they could not care less about your strength of schedule with how they are ranking Indiana. We were due to play a home/away with Nebraska in 2026 and 2027, neutral site with West Virginia in 2028, and a home/away with Washington in 2029 and 2030. The SEC and Big Ten are going to have a scheduling agreement in the very near future and Nebraska/Washington will be the first regular season home games against Big Ten opponents in our history to my knowledge. The only way I see a 9 game conference schedule happening is if Disney gives the SEC more money for the added value. Even then, I just find that it is going to be very difficult to convince the SEC that it is more beneficial for them to play an extra game. Personally, I want a 10 game SEC schedule so we could play everyone in the conference more frequently but that would only be beneficial for Disney and the fans. It’s not beneficial for the conference whenever they are trying to get as many teams in the CFP as possible.

I hope that Halloween is either an away game or an open date. I can't do Halloween AND attend a home game at the same time.

From the way I understand, and correct me if I am wrong, but don’t we play the exact same schedule as this year just the home and away flip?

Never mind I just saw post #2. I am wrong lol

I don’t know if the dates will be the same but we will play the exact same SEC schedule just flipped home/away. Very lazy scheduling from the SEC. They missed out on a golden opportunity for a Nico vs Arch matchup in Neyland. Would’ve made a ton of money in ratings.

Yeah I would love to switch OU for TX. Call me crazy but SC is on the way up and I would trade them for UK.

It’s lazy, but it’s also because they’re trying to buy time while they’re still sorting out how the future SEC schedule opponents rotation is actually going to work.

Sort of like the “gap schedule years” the conference had in 2012 and 2013 after Missouri and Texas A&M joined.

If ESPN ponies up the money, Sankey and the B1G people will hold the CFP’s feet to the fire as far as honoring SOS. They’re on opposite sides of the debate this year with Indiana having uncannily played a G5 schedule, but that won’t always be the case.

let's be honest, a real cupcake schedule except for Bama and Ga.
Florida is not a cupcake. We haven’t won in Gainesville since 2003 and it took overtime this season. There’s a lot of movement in the portal and Florida could be a popular destination w/ Lagway being QB . Florida will be a top 20 team next season.

Yes, Florida will be a very tough out for us next year with Lagway and the others battle hardened through this trial by fire season.

And it’s Gainesville, we barely beat them in Knoxville this year.

Dang. Can we get UGA, UF, and Bama off the schedule? We deserve a texas style schedule/break.

Back to being an automatic loss along side UGA and bama next season.

I wouldn’t say that. There are tough games but no automatic losses with this program now.

Next year we should break through and beat Georgia again.
