I was curious of how Brent Hubbs and the people of Volquest get the contact information of a recruit? Do they call the the UT department and ask them? Rivals information?

The coaching staff probably gives it to them, or the players do on campus or something.

Rivals probably has some connections as well. On most scouting reports that colleges subscribe to, it has the player, all his stats, ..etc and ways to contact them. I'm sure Rivals subscribes to some of these as well so they're able to give it to the guys who run the site.

I'm not positive on any though. Just assumptions.

this post feels like deja vu. I feel like this was asked on VolQuest yesterday.

I think the main way to get numbers in bulk is through sign-up sheets at summer camps & combines. Scouts/writers show up at those to introduce themselves and many numbers are exchanged.

If you wanted to interview a player for a local newspaper, all you'd have to do is call the school and ask for the coach's extension. You speak to the coach, if he's not busy, and then leave the coach your contact info, so that he'll forward it to his player.

If the player feels like doing the interview, he calls you back.
