I will not go into my normal lengthy expository as I have in other posts on the subject but here in the scene from The Replacements best describes what happened to our game with GA.
You're playing and you think everything is going fine. Then one thing goes wrong. And then another. And another. You try to fight back, but the harder you fight, the deeper you sink. Until you can't move... you can't breathe... because you're in over your head. Like quicksand.
Our players felt they were in over their heads. Pre-snap penalties, crazy 75 yard punts, 3 missed TD passes, fumbles, Tilman getting beat out to give an interception instead of a TD. They fought back against many close games this year and have shown a lot of heart but here, when the breaks went against them, the steam went out of them, even as they kept fighting a losing battle.
Yes, GA has deeper roster of great talent but only 22 guys can be on the field at once. If we get a chance to meet them for the trophy, I think we will be better prepared to compete and can bring the war to the dawgs on solid ground.
