Quinn Ewers declares for the NFL draft

I think it's a very smart choice by him. But the reason I think this, is becuase I don't think much of him as a QB prospect. He had a very good situation in Texas where all he had to do was throw screen passes and short yardage throws for Texas to then out-talent their opponents. His time at Texas was always over after the CFP as it was Arch's team after that.

But transferring elsewhere has plenty of risks to it. It could very well be that he transfers and becuase he doesn't have the same OLine or WR talent, that he takes alot more sacks and struggles to process the game. It just takes one injury or benching to completley ruin whatever equity you have built up in NFL circles. I think going to the draft, he may be able to convince some team to take him in the 3rd/4th round. But some teams are dumb and could even be tricked into taking him higher.

the NFL is ALWAYS QB hungry. always. I would be shocked if Ewers isn't gone by the second. unless he has some sort of setback or something pop up with character.

I never was really impressed with Ewers.

He has a great arm but doesn’t seem to be very athletic nor has the pocket awareness to be a great QB.

We’ll see.

What happened at Texas, was he pushed out for Manning?
Was it decided they were making a change before their playoff games and if so, wouldn’t that be a slap in the face?

Probably not the worst move. Unless he could find a huge NIL deal this is likely a good move. This QB class isn’t loaded, he might do well.

Even with the weak class, everything I am seeing is that he is still projected to be somewhere between 7th-9th QB taken.

Wouldn't shock me at all for him to get his draft grade and go scurrying into the portal.

In the book, Next Man Up, the Adams family selected Jake Locker with their first round pick.

The book was chronicling a season with the New York Jets under Bill Parcels.

When the Titans made that pick, the Jets entire draft room erupted into laughter.
