I saw him last year in Nashville. He seemed to barely be hanging on then. I mean I'm glad I got to see him but honestly it didn't seem like he had any business performing. He was pretty late coming to the stage, but that was ok because his band was pretty awesome. When he finally got to the stage he played about an hour and got confused several times. He played the same song about 3 times and in the end it was more of a jam session than concert.

Still, like I said, I'm glad I got to see him as he still could play something awesome.

NPR played an interesting interview with him about why he named his guitar Lucile.

He was playing in a club in Arkansas and there was this can of kerosene that was was burning to heat the place. One night two men got in a fight and knocked it over spreading liquid fire across the floor. Everyone ran outside when King realized he left his guitar inside. He ran back into the burning building to retrieve it and was nearly killed as the wooden building collapsed around him.

Later he found out the two men were fighting over a woman. He said he never met the woman but learned her name... Lucile.

So he called his guitar that to remind him never to do something as stupid as running onto a bur ING building ever again.

I was walking down Beale Wednesday night and we were trying to figure out if BB was still alive or not, and we just assumed he had already passed away. The next night we saw the headline on the news. I'm pretty sure we're to blame.
