Passed away today.

Guys like him are few and far between these days.

May the Lord grant peace to his family and friends.
Sparky was one of the best managers and personalities baseball has ever seen.

A sad day indeed. I grew up watching the Big Red Machine with my grandfather in Cincinnati. He was one of the greats.

You can always tell a lot about a man by how people he interacted with speak of him. Hearing grown men tear up when talking about him speaks volumes.

I keep getting teary eyed when I read what they are all saying. All of the pictures that have been posted also are very touching. It's the kind of stuff that wants to make you laugh and then cry. The man just seemed on cloud 9 everyday of his life. There should be more people like him around the game that stay grounded and feel fortunate to be doing what they are. He is a one of kind and it saddens me to see him go.
