I remember him wrestling a massive anaconda in a river. I thought he was going to drown. The man was a real life Tarzan when I was a youngster. RIP

Remote Area Medical is absolutely one of the most impactful healthcare organizations who's health fairs and clinics have made a lasting impact in our community. One of the most troubling aspects of charities are that they seem to be all about the personal enrichment and the creation of endowments. RAM's mission was always about providing care at no cost to underserved and vulnerable populations. While we constantly see on the television the campaigns that prominently display the suffering of people around the world, people oftentimes forget that there are massively underserved populations here in America, and importantly in East Tennessee and Appalachia. RAM has been made an important impact on the lives of people in our community, and for that we should all be grateful for the affect that Stan Brock has had. RAM is certainly a worthy charitable cause who's mission is remains as true as it was when the organization was first established.

One of the skydivers with whom I used to fun jump participated in a RAM jump to provide dental services. He encouraged me to work on my landing accuracy so that I might join him one day. As it happens, I broke my femur and was out of the sky for most of a two-year stint. By the time I was regularly back in the air, he had moved on.
