Honest thoughts on this.

Do you think they're will be one.

If so will it be all races against each other or will certain races partner with other races or will they stay out of it?

It would take a massive set of events for it to happen. As it is now, events on a smaller scale come and go and people forget.

This isn't even close to the Rodney King situation, and we didn't have any kind of race war about it.

Look at that. A right wing extremist using a tragedy to practice fear mongering? I never saw THAT coming!

Define race. Skin color is not the answer.

It is in common usage, or at least it is a good first approximation. Technical usage is irrelevant. People aren't racist because of technical usages. They are racist because someone looks different or belongs to a different tribe or whatever.

What is in common usage? Skin color?

It seems like a convenient way to pigeon hole someone into a certain group based on appearance alone.

Does nationality define one's race?

It affects it to some extent to some people.

You have to remember, the idea of race is not a scientific idea (nowadays). Race is defined on societal levels. Different societies view it differently.

In America, skin color, culture and nation of birth and possibly even religion all seem to combine to determine what we call 'race'.

It is very much a way to pigeonhole people, but pretending it doesn't exist won't make it go away.

I know it won't make it go away. And I am not pretending it doesn't exist. But what you speak of is prejudice when thoughts about others is based on appearance, lineage, or other(I am not calling you, personally, prejudice in the slightest).

I agree that race is indefinable scientifcally. Too many factors contribute to one's "race".

There are different types of prejudice and not all of them are bad.

I am totally against doing anything or even thinking anything 'bad' to/about someone solely due to prejudice.

I am prejudiced against Alabama fans. I would have never considered dating one. There is one in my dept at work. I am not mean to him, I just never talk to him unless it is work related. Is that wrong?

If you see a young black man wearing chains, tatted up, pants down to his knees, do you assume he likes rap? That is a form of pre-judging (prejudice), but I think it is a harmless one that will be right far more often than it is wrong. If you assume that he is a criminal, then you have crossed the line into bad forms of prejudice.

I dunno. It's late and I am really tired.

Probably not. But really, really sad.

Good points. I live in bama. I even, God forbid, have Alabama fans that I consider to be friends(The horror, I know).

One of my closest friends from childhood is a diehard Bammer. He moved from Boaz to where I grew up back when we were in 6th grade. I used to give him Hell during the 90s and he has returned the favor these last 7 years.
