This information has been posted in a couple of other threads, but I thought it might receive wider exposure as a separate thread. Jalen appeared on the MidDay 180 (104.5 FM) program yesterday for almost a half-hour and his interview can be accessed from 104-5 The Zone - Play Now; select "The MidDay 180" from the Podcast Category Menu at the top and then the Jalen Hurd link from the Podcast Title menu below.

Jalen certainly sounds like an intelligent, articulate, high-energy, and high-character guy. His blood has definitely been dyed a deep (and permanent) shade of orange. When asked how many Tennessee articles of clothing he owned, he said "thirty or forty." Jalen even reiterates the personal recruiting pitch he gives other recruits in trying to persuade them to don the orange and white.

I believe the sun will rise again soon in Knoxville. Hope Hurd has an awesome career and is credited with the impact he has had with recruiting as well as the 6,000 yards rushing and 75 rushing TD's he accomplished during his UT career.

I thought it was a bit odd to have a high school senior in studio for an interview but after hearing him I understand why. What a great spokesman for us. I am honored to have him as the face of UT football

I'm encouraged by the guys that appear to be intelligent joining our football team. Hurd, Malone, TK, Bates, etc.

They have been great ambassadors for the program before getting to Knoxville. CBJ needs to keep them positive and build on these high quality character recruits. I trust he will.

Anyone have an update on his season ending injury?

From all I read, torn labarum. Had it repaired the week after it happened. Rehab is going/went well. Set to enroll early this next week and participate in spring drills.

He said during the interview that he expects to be back at 100% doing all workouts within 2-3 weeks.

I hope he's available for spring practice, it will be a lot of fun to watch him in the Orange and White game with the other newcomers.
