I was watching the (few) highlights of ours from the game and I noticed something about Raijon's TD that I hadn't noticed before. Bama walks a safety up to the line and sends him off the edge in what looks like a blitz. Clinton-Dix should have had the tackle on Raijon for a loss, but he froze his feet because he was worried Dobbs would keep the ball on the zone read.

I think this is a good glimpse of the advantage that the zone read can give this offense with a QB who can and will keep the ball and make the defense pay with his feet at least 5-6 times a game. When run correctly and with the threat for the QB to keep the ball, the zone read can basically take a defender out of the game and make the offense only have to account for 10 guys to block.

Noticed that too during the game. Running a read option with non mobile qb is just silly. With Dobbs , the D had to watch for it.

Yeah, as good as Peyton was, I think that is likely why we won the national title with Tee. In college ball, it just adds a dynamic that just changes everything, when a qb is a threat to run on any given play.

Without Worley, we might not have won a game this year, but I do hope the future involves a qb who is a major threat to go 30/40 yards everytime the ball is snapped.

Neal seems like a nice guy and has handled himself well with all the negativity around the program and his ability. I give him credit for sticking his nose up in there this year more than he has in the past.
I still don't understand how supposed 4.3 gets caught from behind by opposing safeties, but that shows that track speed doesn't always matter when the pads are on.

To me, the fact the officials blew that obvious call was what set me off.

It's one thing to get outplayed by the other team (which happened).

It's another entirely to watch the obvious calls go towards the other team and no holding calls practically the entire game.

ETA: I'm really hoping he gets his 1000 yard season

I agree. I have always thought that Neal was "sneaky slow" for a 4.3.
