Glad we were able to come back and win one. Looked like we had given another game away in the last innings. That big seventh inning as huge.

This team can hit averaging nearly 9 runs per game. It's a prolific run-scoring team. 10 players are currently hitting btwn .310 and .407 with Gaffin (.407), Geer (.406) and Overstreet (.403) leading the way. What a great senior campaign Lexi is having! Gaffin too. Our girls are offensively very talented. And they can steal the bases at will. They run real fast. It's fun to watch them when they bat and run.

The question is, "do we have enough pitching to take us where we want to go?" Erin Gabriel, the ace (supposedly) of the pitching staff has been a little disappointment so far, not very consistent in the circle as we hoped her to be. I know she's a credit to her family and our university, and she's one helluva great kid/student athlete, but her career has been a disappointment to surmise seeing how highly touted she was coming out of high school. She deserved better. Hip injury definitely derailed her promising career and played a major role in making her not as effective. Losing 5-6 mph on her fastball hurt..

I say we let Matty Moss pitch more. She should start more games. Let Bria Bush get some innings against Florida and SEC competition as well. Bush should be a good compliment to Matty's powerful pitching. Towards the end of season, we should have 4 pitchers that we can go to when need be. We need all of them to win in the postseason and advance as far as we can go.

BTW, I'm not missing Aldrete nor Koenig at all this year. Wish them the best 'tho. :)

I hope that the hitting will keep on keeping on against SEC pitchers because that is our only chance with the shoddy pitching and fielding against lesser competition so far.....will need to outscore 7-6,10-9 etc.Total let down against good competition this year so far .....hope for it to improve springs eternal.

The pitching has been good, maybe not great but good.

The losses to both ASU and Alabama were due to fielding errors that led to unearned runs scoring.

The loss to Arizona was due to an ability to score.

The loss to Fresno State was what I call a failure to compete - the team just didn't show up.

Really, the team has yet to put a complete game together where pitching, hitting, and fielding are all clicking. If they do, they will be very formidable.

Keep in mind that there are 10 frosh on the team, or half of the team. How well this team does this year depends on how quickly they get into SEC shape.

I expected Aucoin to contribute more in the circle this season as a senior...but looks like her 12 plus era and couple of innings will be it for her. Gabriel is a big question mark because her career has, and might continue to be, influenced by her prior injuries. Very good hitting team, but you are right about the shabby fielding, Alex.
