Ramblings of a Fulmer Critic

ah, that OSU comparison, that's pretty good....and i can see that as being valid. I don't know all the stats on John Cooper, but he rarely, if ever beat Michigan, rarely if ever won the conf. and NEVER won anything close to a NC....

FUlmer is comparable, at least during the same time period Cooper was at OSU given FUlmer's record against Florida in the 90's, and it may be comparable to the number of SEC championships vs. Big 10 championships, i don't know....

Both brought tons of talent thru their respective schools....but OSU did get Jim Tressell. he won immediately, and brought a NC to Columbus. He also brought Maurice Clarrett and some off the feild issues. Fulmer has also had his share of off the feild issues and bad seeds as well....

so two coaches at OSU equals 1 CPF at TN? But i get what your saying....at the time, Coop hadn't done anything, short of beating mich and NC...they made a change, and it paid off....several BCS berths, conf championships and a NC....problem is CPF has all that already...and that's why he's still here....

I will say this....If Fulmer had not won any conf championships, been to 0 big time bowl games, and not won the NC, he'd of be out at the end of this season.

I think we could all agree to that, right?

The Question is this; Does the one NC give Fulmer a life time pass? Most of would say no. I don't want to beat a dead horse(but the da&% thing keeps popping up on this board). I have no problem with seeing what the next year or two brings, but I'm keeping my powder dry>

Allvol, you actually trying to use reason and logic with them?

Good luck.

If we win the SEC, you will have these people bitching and moaning about how we lost a single game or maybe two instead of going undefeated.

The only purpose for many of the babies is solely to get rid of Fulmer, which is sad in itself

Interesting that you on one hand lament your inability to reason and argue logically with them, while on the other hand calling them all babies.

why do we put up with our own fans always slandering our coach on a Vols board and let them get away with it? Didnt he make enough off season adjustments for you to be satisfied? He re hired Cutliffe who is an offensive master mind, our defense wont miss a beat again this year, ainge cant do anything but improve... And most importantly last year was a learning experince for all our players... Maybe we were just one year away from being a really good team... I think this year will be good for UT football fans. Can you please stop slandering our coach everytime you post though? It really gets stupid after awhile listening to everyone cut down on Fulmer and if you dont belive in him that much then go on a bama board and talk to them about how much fulmer sucks... At least there you will fine someone that will agree with you...

To be so young, you have a better insight concerning the UT football program.I agree 100% with your post. I just wish more people were just as smart or not so dang stupid when they post. :banghead:

Why do I have the feeling that this time last year you were lamenting about Buzz Peterson being fired. You do realize the same arguement that you use to defend Fulmer are the same one you were using last year in your arguement to keep Buzz.

I'm sorry . . . At this point comparing Buzz Peterson to Phil Fulmer is just ridiculous. Even as bad as last year was, CPF has a ways to go before he gets there.

I wasn't comparing them, I was comparing the arguements for keeping each which are nearly the same: 1) hasn't had time to turn the program around 2) the players didnt make plays 3) the SEC is tough to win in etc

no, not a lifetime pass, but he does get the chance to fix this mess that he absolutely created. i've said it before, i really don't think we are all that far off on our views, just in how we choose to get those points across....

I agree w/you 100%.

Ok, you did it oklavol, you made me laugh. I was fine then I saw arguement....Freak, spellcheck please! My side is killing me!.................. Play scrabble and learn to spell!

The British spelling of "argument is "arguement". Since our official language is English, Oklavol's spelling is acceptable, thou not preferred.

LIO correct me if I'm wrong. I've lost my Harbrace from college.
