I wish Kiffin would go after this guy even though we don't really have a chance at him. He's the type of player we need here.

If we land Gonzales from UF we might be able to sway him. Norton is his recruiter at USC and if he follows Sark to UW then that could also help.






But I believe we have 0 chane at the kid nonetheless...

I wouldn't make up hope about getting a kid when he has said nothing about ,or showed any real interest in, UT.

article on Volquest about him. Says he is very interested in Tennessee. Looking to visit and also says if we get Gonzales from FL it would be huge for Tennessee's chances.

Did the article say that his new found interest in UT is just because of the possible Gonzales hire? Did he have any other reasons?

He actually wants to pay both sides and is being recruited as a DB for USC. That could be the draw with Monte coming, although you can't go wrong as a defensive player at USC.

wow, we definitely have gotten big interest from Carroll lately. Says something along the lines of he has heard about Gonzales and TN and if Gonzales were to come here it would be huge for us. I think we definitely get a visit.

I can't believe we actually really have a chance to get this kid. Personally I say we just go get Gonzales and make him OC if that's what Gonzales wants. I mean, it's really just a title since Kiffin is calling the plays right? Let him have the title, coach WR's, and recruit, recruit, recruit.

why would you recruit a wr that is #1 ranked after the catch to play db?? seems like a pretty big playmaker!!

If I'm not wrong, the kid is under 6 feet, that's too short for a stud WR -- Someone needs to let him know he'd be a much better DB.

Either way, after reading the VQ article, I have a good feeling on this kid-- I bet we get a visit and some serious consideration. If we get Gonzalez, count it.

"I want to learn more about Tennessee," Carroll said. "I have some interest in them because of coach (Lane) Kiffin."

Carroll actually attended Southern Cal's football camp while Kiffin was on the Trojans staff.

"I was young and I know he doesn't remember me," Carroll said. "I liked him and I like his offense because he is really big on playmakers and finding different ways to get them the ball. He did that with Mike Williams. I consider myself a playmaker and then he is bringing in his dad to run the defense, which can make Tennessee pretty special."

Another school that Carroll had expressed some interest in was Florida. However, Carroll's interest in the Gators is uncertain with the departure of offensive coordinator Dan Mullen to Mississippi State. Additionally, Carroll said he had heard the rumors of Billy Gonzales looking at Tennessee.

"I haven't asked coach Gonzales about it, but I have heard the stuff about him and Tennessee and if that happened it would be huge for them," Carroll said.

Nice... No doubt the kid has interest. Something tells me if we could get a visit from him, we might could get him.

apparently SC wants him to play CB which he isn't very excited about. don't be surprised if he ends up at cal.

Jenkins visited UF this past weekend and had a fantastic trip according to him and his father. He mentioned Charlie Strong. Said he really liked Strong alot. I don't think it will make a difference with him if Gonzales comes or not. Has he visited UT officially yet? If not i hope we can at least get an official. Then he can come see our defensive coordinator!

No he hasnt visited yet....now think about this, what if we get gonzales and strong goes somewhere else. how great would that be!!!
