If Fulmer & Co. went to Clemson, would he have his pick with our recruits and leave us screwed?

How far would UNC go to try and keep Butch Davis?

UNC is preseason #1 in basketball and the times are good in Chapel Hill. Do you think they would make an impressive counter offer?

UNC's AD seems to be alot more vocal and concerned about his coach compared to TT where they plan on "working it out at the end of the year." Would UNC fight it out with UT from an ethics and contract standpoint?

I keep hearing that if it were to come down to just money that we would definitely have Davis on our sidelines here next year and UNC won't try to throw up the major money on him. But does he want to leave Chapel Hill?

UNC wont throw more money then what Roy makes there. if they do, Roy will go crazy. i think we will prolly double any offer UNC throws at him.

If Clemson is smart, and I think they are for firing Bowden, they will have no part of Fulmer.

With the Butch Davis thing I beleive he will definately consider UT. You know he will get a huge offer from us. It just depends on if he wants more money or if he is happy enough at UNC to do without the extra coin.

In the end I beleive it will be Kiffin or Leach anyway. I really would rather it be Kiffin but thats just me. He is our best option for these reasons..... He has no finacial obligations (contract, buyout) so that is straight forward....... the man can recruit (did well at USC) and can go to the west coast to recruit...... He can get started asap on his staff, also can get aclimated to UT and the recruits..... Very good offensive mind....... doesn't run the spread (easy transition for our current players and the recruits)....... Young and energetic....... May bring his dad (huge bonus)......... Has something to prove after his Oakland fiasco.

Marlon Brown is money from day one if Leach comes here. MB would have to be smart enough to realize that and stupid if he didn't. Michael Crabtree did it as a frosh. Not to mention Jeron Stokes.

That may be but you can't pick a coach on the basis that you'll have a better chance at a potential recruit. I would love to have Brown, Stokes, Oku, Boyd in Leach's offense. How pretty would that be? IMO though Leach is a risk. The Big 12 is a different brand of football, offensively dominant. The SEC is Defense first and a good offense is nice. Plus I don't think Leach is stable.

No matter what, our new coach HAS to recruit big, nasty, ugly, smelly, killer O and D linemen. Give me 10 Albert Haynesworths. Any offense won't work without it and any D will be inadequate without it. And right now we don't really have either.

If we hire Kiffin, i bet you he'll tell Jarvis Giles that he'll be our Reggie Bush. Hopefully that excites Giles and he'll come back to us.

Yes sir, that would be nice. I like Kiffin and Giles is an animal. I just don't think he would consider coming back unless this happened like..... yesterday or last week. I think he may hold a grudge against the school because he liked Fulmer so much. Also, decommitments just don't sit well with me. But that is just me.

Crabtree came in as a QB and redshirted before he found the field as a WR

I personnally hope that Giles stays with his new commitment and Askew stays with his....that way Askew can hand Giles his d*** several times over the next 3-4 years and say "How ya feel bout' that decision now beeyatch"

Really? I didn't know that. Me and my friend were discussing Crab last night and didn't know anything about him really. Regardless, I think Leach would encourage Brown to come to UT but I think that we may land him whether we get Leach, Kiffin, or Davis.

Now that the Gruden hangover has surpassed, I have finally started looking at all canidates objectively and I think that there are 4 or 5 that would be good. Peterson is the only good canidate where I see us losing a bunch of key recruits but I wouldn't let is discourage my enthusiasm.

What is the deal on Marlon Brown and BBall? Has the UGA Bball coach said he could play? I think that would be the only way we don't get him if we land a good coach.

Yes he did.

If Kiffin or Davis come here, they are going to have to make up a lot of ground to get Brown here.

I wouldn't consider Peterson a good candidate.

I believe he told Brown he could play both.

here are some random thoughts from a UF fan:

Blunders

The last few weeks have had some big time recruiting blunders. Weirdly enough, most of it has come from the SEC (see Tennessee). Here are a couple of mistakes I've seen of late.

Let's stay with the Vols and talk about how Hampton, Va., Phoebus quarterback Tajh Boyd committed to Tennessee two days before Phil Fulmer "stepped down." Word is that he's still solid to the Vols, but you have to wonder what's going through his head right now. Or maybe he knew what was coming. Who knows?

I'll stay with Tennessee because it looks like prized running back Jarvis Giles (Tampa, Gaither) has de-committed from the Vols. He was in wait-and-see mode after Fulmer's exit, but now the Vols are pretty much out of it. He visited South Carolina over the weekend and the Gamecocks could be the new leader, with Ole Miss not far behind.

Askew is the number one guy on defense that we must keep. Any chance he opens his recruitment back up? Say for example, Bama?

He could've changed since then but here's what he said when he committed.

Jerod Askew, regarded as one of the nation’s top linebackers, has committed to Tennessee.

Askew, a 6-foot, 230-pounder from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Va., chose the Vols after whittling his final list to Tennessee, West Virginia, Alabama, Maryland and South Carolina.

"He visited Tennessee last week and he just said 'Coach, I’m done. Tennessee is where I want to go,' '' Oscar Smith coach Richard Morgan told the Virginian-Pilot.

Askew last season had 120 tackles – 24 for loss – and 14 sacks.

“He’s a rare combination of size and speed and athletic ability that you don’t see in high school football much,” Morgan told the newspaper. “They’re getting a terrific linebacker and a great kid.”
