Random Toughts (Week 1)

Congrats to our team for a strong performance this weekend… actually made a pilgrimage back to land of Rocky Top this past weekend to cheer on our team to victory. Just like Gen Neyland would say, keep up the steam.

My real “random thought” (as I’m watching the “Finebaum” show right now) is whether or not the TV “rights owners” of CFB are implementing a similar “clock rule” for CRB host procrastinations in same manner that the “true” CFB game clock has been revised.

While I’m a bit too lazy to measure this myself, I’m certainly interested in if SEC Network writ large is cutting out more “content” across the board to allow more commercials.

ESPN inked its current extension with the SEC (which includes basketball) in 2013, when it agreed to a 20-year, $2.25 billion pact, which worked out to $150 million per season. It was in the course of those negotiations that ESPN said it was interested in launching a standalone SEC channel. In taking over the package long held by CBS, ESPN’s total commitment to the conference is now worth some $5.25 billion ESC was getting $55M from CBS and the new deal with ESPN/ABC is $300M.

Have to pay the ticket.
