Randy Moss is traded to Pats

You have to give a lot of credit to the New England front office...they've had a really aggressive off-season, and they look outstanding on paper. That offense is shaping up as one of the NFL's most explosive.

Yes, they're very aggressive. The one thing that held them back last year was decent reveivers. So they went out and got a bunch of quality reveivers for Brady to throw the ball to.

and they addressed their need at safety...Merriweather's a stud.

The only questions are the character issues that Merriweather and Moss bring to Boston. I think the strong leadership on that team and on the coaching staff will help keep those guys in check though.

I detest the Patriots, but you have to admire what their front office has done this offseason. They've gotten a lot better, while the Colts have if anything gotten worse. Unfortunately the Patriots have to be the favorites at this point.

I agree

This pretty much pours cold water on the notion that they only want quality guys in the NE lockerroom. I don't have that much of a problem with Moss, but I find it ironic that the ESPN types came out not too long ago praising the character guys they have and demonizing Moss, and now they two are together.

Funny how things/standards change when you have a few years of playoff failure.

I think Moss is still a wild card, and while he is still a good target, he is not the dominant receiver he was two years ago. This is somewhat of a gamble for the Pats.

Doesn't it always seem these gambles pay off for the Pats?

I see this as similar to the Dillon situation they inherited a few years ago, and that worked out OK for them. If the Pats start strong and win, it may work out, but if they lose early and Randy feels like he is not getting the ball enough don't be surprised if a media circus ensues.

They have lots of WRs to keep happy. Moss, Stallworth, Wahington, Wes Welker and then Gaffney and Caldwell.

They needed a deep threat. Stallworth was it. Taking on Moss seems to be overkill.

I think they needed a true #1 receiver, and Stallworth hasn't shown that he can handle that. I think it's a good move for the Pats.

Being a once proud Raider fan I am glad he is gone! Maybe Al is starting to listen now!

They've never had a true #1 before and it never hurt them. When Branch was there Givens, Brown and Patten played just as big a part, except in the Super Bowl against Philly

Moss will just be "one of the guys" in NE.....i think this compares favorably to the Corey Dillon situation as LV said. he doesn't have to be "the guy". they have the qb, good WR's already, good RB.....and a good D.

this just enhances the Pats offensive prowess.....definitely not a bad move. I will be shocked if the pats don't win that division and are one of the top 2 seeds in the AFC next season.
