Shannon did everything you could ask for in a coach except win.

He coached LBs for years at Miami. He'll have a DC job tomorrow if he wants one.

Yup. Not like he actually made "Da U" look good in the classroom or the community. That meant nothing.

He didn't win, and that's his first objective in college sports. But this is just a class-act gesture.

Shannon won't be unemployed long, IMO. I think someone will snatch him up as defensive coordinator.

I've always been on the Shannon bandwagon. I think he can coach, but it's hard to justify the struggles he had at Miami. There's really no excuses, but I do think he should have been given another year.

Miami's current DB coach is Wesley McGriff, who used to coach at UK and was all but set to come back last year under Joker but it didn't work out. Shannon is also a close friend of Phillips. If the money could be raised, that would be a sweet deal. At present, the DB coach position is open at UK, as well as the co-DC position. Sounds like a great fit to me.

Guys who played for Petri had nothing but great things to say about him. McGriff was the RB coach before at UK.
