Instead of only having two chances to beat a ranked team left with South Carolina and Alabama. We now have four. Missouri climbed to 14 and auburn snuck in at 24.

It's possible the next 4 SEC games will be against ranked teams, contrary to early season predictions. The Vols may be the only team not to overacheive from preseason predictions. While it's still early, the remaining SEC schedule may prove to be our biggest hurdle. I do hope we can at least win a couple of SEC games this year, which would be an improvement over the last 2 years.

Any way you want to explore, claim or explain it this is a total throw away year. Aided by the loss to Georgia who in my opinion shouldn't have lost to Mizzou this is probably going to be the most down year in history of modern FB for us!

I'm going to get slammed for this, but I also am not one who see's how the SEC winning the last 7 BCS has helped Tennessee. This has arguably been the worst 7 uears in the history of UT football.

UT still has probably the toughest schedule in the country. But the conference is over-rated by the polls. In the Top 15, SEC teams are 32-5. The other top 15 schools are 49-1. I think a lot of that is UGA being overrated as usual. But still the SEC is getting votes on name more than results.

Thay said, this may all go in UT's favor. I see Auburn, SC and Mizzou without Franklin as winnable. If those teams are ranked and Tennessee can finish the season with 8 wins, that would really help our early ranking for next year.

Not saying there are 8 wins, just saying it is possible.

Got to find a way to win 3 more games. I want them to get the bowl practice this year. Plus it's been 3 years since they've actually played in a bowl game. I kind of miss have that last game to look forward too.

More chance for the team to get some recognition imo.... hopefully some good recognition though.

This sums it up for me as well. That was the bar that I hoped they reached at the start of the season.

We beat KY and Candy this year. We are going to steal at least one more win to go to a bowl. We win the bowl game in a squeeker against somebody like Toledo.

Don't think that Ky, Vandy, Ole Miss, Miss State, even Florida have come close to "overachieving" to this point.

No other SEC team, with the exception of Georgia, has faced the gauntlet we face. We have played three teams that at one point or another were ranked in the top 10. I would not expect us to "overachieve from preseason rankings" too much.

On the other hand, Auburn and Missouri have only had one tough game each. I give Auburn credit for beating the Mississippi schools, though not terribly impressed with it, but they just got whipped by LSU.

Missouri I do give some credit to, beating Uga on their home field pretty decisively after we failed to at home. Even there, we did better against Uga AFTER their injuries occured...had they started the game so depleted likely we win.

If those teams remain ranked and we make it to a bowl game, it will be that much more impressive. A first year head coach, with a really young team and 7 games against ranked opponents? Wow.
