This is always interesting to see. How do you rank your events?

1. December 7, 1941-Bombing of Pearl Harbor-Brings the US into WWII fully
2. September 11, 2001-Terrorists attack and destroy the World Trade Center, attack the Pentagon and crash in a field in PA
3. June 6 1944-Allies land at Normandy, France and begin to retake Europe from Nazi Germany
4. November 22, 1963- Assassination of JFK-Admid the Cold War with Russia, and several other key global issues, an American President is gunned down.
5. July 20, 1969-"Thats one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" Neil Armstrong is the first man to step on the moon.

9/11 is too high. Although it did cause a lot of the crap we're dealing with now

this isn't a top 10 comedic events in US history thread

I put its ranking so high up there because of its effect on everyone right now. Pearl Harbor is at the top of my list because you can argue that 12-7-41 is that day that America began to rise as a super power, the day the depression ended, an event that unifed a nation.

I agree, but I see it in this order.

12-7-41 is that day that

1. That unifed a nation
2. America began to rise as a super power
3. The depression ended

Because America was dangerously divided about the war before Pearl Harbor, but afterwards there was very little division. And a united people is the key.

IMHO

oh yah, we basically said the same thing. you just broke it down and used numbers haha. 9-11 unified the country. Do you remember seeing a bi-partisan congress standing outside singing God Bless America, Together, both parties? If that happened to day it would turn into a fight.

The time period from the Great White Fleet til we tipped the balance on the Western Front in WW1 was our rise as a superpower.
