Rankings 4/18/2022

D1 now up.

They are tough on the SEC- Vanderbilt not ranked. And I have to say they are likely right. The dropped Florida, Alabama and Mississippi (finally) from rankings. They were 23-25 last week.

Alabama, dropping a road series to #1 after handing them their first conference loss, doesn't deserve to be dropped from the rankings.

Vandy earned their bannishment. Nothing on their resume says top 25..... and they suck.

You can sure see the Tennessee Effect in these rankings: The teams that Tennessee has demolished, once highly ranked, are just discarded like old smelly socks. Ole Miss, Vandy, Alabama. Florida next up, Georgia waiting in the wings.
Even though Tennessee lost to Texas, the Longhorns are still feeling the aftermath of facing the real Big Orange.
9-0 before facing the Vols and 16-12 since.

Tennessee Tech moved to Q2 from Q3 in RPI making the loss a little more tolerable numbers wise.
And Georgia Southern is rolling and also greatly helping the math

If you throw out the RPI as an outlier (it sure seems to be), then you get a sorta consensus opinion about our next two SEC opponents: 1) Florida is not thought of as a top 25 team, and 2) Auburn is somewhere somewhere south of #20 and north of #25.

I'm guessing Florida is much more capable than they show in the polls, but they are somewhat in disarray. Hopefully, that will continue this weekend. Auburn hosts SCe this weekend. If they're for real, they should handle them.
