We are all getting keyed up going into the final 2 weeks of the season
Classes, finals and graduation is complete so the boys have only baseball to worry about from here on out.

With the noteworthy weekend it will be interesting to see where Tennessee stands later today.

Per the D1 poll; #5 Tennessee is the only team to go undefeated last week in the top-5. Texas Tech at #8 is the other team in top-10 to do it but they only had 1 game as their UIC-C series was cancelled due to COVID.

Both Arkansas and Vanderbilt went 2-1 as Vandy lost midweek at Louisville and their final game against Bama was CCD. Arkansas lost 2 games @ home against UGA. I'm guessing they may split the #1 ranking in the polls somehow.

TCU was somewhat exposed at home by Texas losing 2 of 3.

#4 Mississippi St went 3-1 on SC roadtrip beating The Citadel and taking 2 of 3 at SC. Had they won that last game; I suspect they had a claim on #1

We know what #5 Tennessee did against a completely outmanned Missouri team. I suspect the Vols will stay at or near #5 as the voters will likely be more impressed with #6 Texas's road series win at #3 TCU.

#7 Notre Dame lost 2 or 3 at home to an underperforming FSU team. They will drop in all polls finally- except BaseballAmerica who will doubtlessly make them the new #1 team.

We discussed #8 Texas Tech's light week. #9 Arizona jumped in RPI but still only went 2-2 with win vs. Grand Canyon and 1-2 at Stanform. The Wildcats won the second game 20-2 proving that every dog has their day.

#10 Florida went 3-1 losing first game @ UK. They should have sept.

Just outside top-10 is Oregon at #11 who went 3-0

Ole Miss seemingly kissed their chance as a national seed goodbye with a series loss to Texas A&M.

D1 poll prediction

1- Vanderbilt U1
2- Arkansas D1
3- Mississippi State Unch.
4- Texas U2
5- Tennessee Unch
6- Texas Tech U2
7- TCU D4
8- Florida U2
9- Oregon U2
10-East Carolina U3

Six SEC teams are in the running as regional hosts and four of them as national top8 seeds. I think Florida's RPI is too low or they would be pushing for Top8 as well.

Tennessee remains undefeated in road series. That series win at Alabama looms larger as the season wears on due to Alabama's surprisingly high RPI. Don't get me wrong, I think the Vols are a top-4 team. I just think the voters will leave them at #5

Further analysis.

Tennessee's is the only team in the top 25 in RPI with a better winning percentage on the road (14-4) than home (23-7)
EXCEPT the mighty Fairfield Stags who are undefeated at 9-0 vs 2-1 at home

BTW, Fairfield coming to Knoxville for region play seems inevitable. The NCAA is certainly not going to send a good team to South Bend to threaten the chosen ones.

I loled at the chosen ones. Would it be so bad if Fairfield was in our region? Are they as good as their record indicates or are they playing HS teams?

After watching some of the Fairfield game yesterday, I'm not concerned. Granted, I did not see the comeback. It reminded me of American Legion ball, but maybe not as good.

Fairfield has not Q1 sins but they are still 16-0 vs Q2 and Q3

The MAAC overall is the 14th best conference out of 31. The MAAC is playing conference games only like the Big10. The MAAC is ahead of some decent conferences including Big West. BigSouth and Southland.

So I think they are worthy of a high RPI. Maybe not #4. But probabily top 32

LMAO.

ND loses a series at home to a lower ranked team and moves up in the poll.

We need to stop winning series if we want to host.

I've always liked this poll. They have traditionally been a bit Big12-centric but at least that's more logical than BA's love with all things ACC.

Even though CB has 5 more teams than most of the other polls; they are more than willing to leave some teams out. I can live with 6 as it sort of makes sense. There's no explanation for other polls putting Notre Dame so high. And Florida, deserves to be in the top-10.

The Big12 is easily the second best conference.

I have to snicker at the list of voters this season

John Anderson, Minnesota;
Todd Asalon, Northern Kentucky;
Ray Birmingham, New Mexico;
Jordan Bischel, Central Michigan;
Andrew Checketts, UC-Santa Barbara;
Reggie Christiansen, Sacramento State;
Craig Cozart, High Point;
Barry Davis, Rider;
Bill Decker, Harvard;
Greg DiCenzo, Holy Cross;
Jeff Forehand, Lipscomb;
Nino Giarratano, San Francisco;
Billy Godwin, UNC-Greensboro;
Scott Googins, Cincinnati;
Brian Green, Washington State;
Danny Hall, Georgia Tech;
Ben Hall, North Carolina A&T;
Fritz Hamburg, Saint Joseph's;

Also, The number of upper midwest, northeast and Catholic schools can only help Notre Dame in this polle
