Pretty neat article even if he does rate Wuerffel ahead of Peyton. Written by Franz Beard GatorCountry.com Managing Editor so take it as you will.

Interesting that he ranks QB's "that the SEC has produced," and that Peyton is #4.

Wuerffel, after all, did start 10 games in the NFL over the years, with a total of 2,123 passing yards, 12 TD's, and 22 INT's to boot. For comparison, PM has right at 14 (fourteen) TIMES the yardage (a hair under 30,000), with only 10 INT's in each of the last two seasons, and somebody said something about breaking some guy's record that would "never be broken" last year.

I suppose he is basing this list ONLY on college merit, not what the SEC has really "produced."

Either way, he's still an idiot. Who the hell is Shane Matthews?!?! (I know, but he's still far too high on that list. Rex GROSSMAN? Right behind NAMATH?!?! You've got to be kidding me... finally... Pat Sullivan at 6TH??? There could be a very convincing argument to move him up that list.

Heath Schuler didn't even make honorable mention.....and he was a Heisman runner up!

True. It depends on what the guy supposedly was using as criteria for the list... it would HAVE to be college merits though, because Wuerffel had a poor NFL carrer... not quite as SHORT as Heath's, but bad nonetheless.

3. DANNY WUERFFEL, FLORIDA: Heisman Trophy, 1996. The numbers are incredible: 10,875 passing yards and 114 touchdowns, four SEC championships and one national championship. He led the Gators to back to back 12-1 seasons in 1995 and 1996. The Gators lost in the national championship game in 1995 but beat Florida State, 52-20, to win the national title in 1996. In those two years, Wuerffel threw for 6,891 yards and 74 touchdowns. Threw for 394 yards and three touchdowns in the Sugar Bowl win over FSU for the national title. He was a two-time Academic All-America selection and winner of the Draddy Trophy as the nation's top scholar-athlete. First Team All-America, 1995 and 1996.

Too bad he's cleaning toilets right now LOL

I'm not even gonna touch this article...

Whether you look at it as QB's as they performed in the SEC, or what they did after they left the SEC, this list is screwed up.

Umm..I think they're grading the QB's on their college days, not pro.

I cant see how you guys put Peyton above Danny. How many SEC Titles did Peyton win? National Titles? How many times was he All-American? How many Heismans? All of those totals are less than Danny's. Theres no doubt whos the better pro. Peyton blows Danny to shame in the NFL (Weurffel is currently a minister in Louisiana I belive). But Danny put up comparable stats, and led a team to a whole lot more. Id put him as one of the greatest players to play in the NCAA.
