I'm really happy for Palardy. He's taken a lot of grief from a lot of UT fans on message boards during his career, but he's stuck around and is now showing why he was so highly touted coming out of HS.

This season, Palardy has handled all three duties on special teams for the Vols, taking part in 100 percent of the punts, kicks and kickoffs for Tennessee in 2013.

The senior is one of just seven athletes in the Football Bowl Subdivision that is handling all three duties on special teams and is the lone lefty in the group.

Palardy has booted 35 punts this season for a 44.5 yard average, 14th in the country and third in the SEC. Sixteen of his punts have landed inside the 20-yard line and nine of them have been for 50+ yards. He ranks in the top-5 on the UT career punting average charts with a 42.46 average.

Palardy is also a perfect 27-for-27 on extra points in 2013 and against Georgia knocked his 100th career extra point through the uprights. With his 8-of-10 field goal kicking this season, Palardy has moved in to fifth place on the UT all-time field goal percentage list (31-43, .721).

Absolutely this!

Some guys aren't world beaters straight out of high school. For some guys, they need physical or mental prep. That's what depth does for you. It gives you the ability to bring guys along until they are ready for the big lights.

P.S. It also helps to not have a complete buffoon as your coach.

Correct. This was a guy that was just thrown at games without enough coaching or preparation for what college football is.

I'm very happy that he managed to get it together.

Hey does anyone know if a punter fakes and throws a td for conversations sake. Do pass stats help the players chance of winning awards or only stats associated with said position? Or do you think voters have differing opinions so who knows how it affects overall.

Not sure about the passing stats, but if we are up by three with 30 seconds to go and its 4th and 8 on our own 36 and Parlardy punts it out of bounds on Alabama's three yd line .......I'm pretty sure that would count

That's awesome. Imagine where this kid would be if he had the proper coaching his first 3 years.
