Didn't the Raiders also draft Sebastian Janikowski in the first?
Yeah they did and the Cardinals drafted a Punter-Kicker named John Lee from UCLA in 1985 in the first round. He got injured badly in the 1985 Preseason and never played a game for the Cardinals.

Ah, I almost forgot about John Lee.

I didn't know about the injury though. I just thought he never really adjusted to the differences in the game pro vs college.

He didn't adjust very well from not kicking from a tee

Ray Guy and Reggie Roby of the Dolphins are 1A and 1B for best Punter ever. What separates Guy, was his performance in Super Bowl 18 vs the Redskins.

From :53 to 1:00 below, Guy saves a TD on a punt return with an open field tackle.

From 1:10 to 1:18 below, Guy makes a leaping one-handed catch of a bad snap, and after a pirouette, he launches a 50 yard punt under pressure that would be downed inside the Redskin 10 yard line.

"There has only been one Punter, who I would call a football player.... Ray Guy."

-- John Madden, former Oakland Raiders Head Coach.

I met Ray Guy while golfing with my grandfather in Hattiesburg, MS when I was 12. He signed a scorecard to me. It is framed on the wall in the man cave.

RIP to the GOAT punter.

The first punter who was considered and used as "weapon". His leg was part of the Raiders' gameplan.

I love the story of this game. Ray Guy was amazing, but not stupid.
