Gem of a hypothesis here.

His logic is that Americans will essentially have too much time on their hands in the absence of NFL football, and will resort to committing crime / evil, instead. Upon further questioning as to how he arrived at this conclusion, he credited the knowledge to, "the street".

Of course, it's hard to completely dismiss his beliefs, considering that the murder which he was involved in occurred in the off-season, but I digress.

He also (strongly) hints at the possibility of his being called upon to address the representative groups from either side, ostensibly, amidst their active negotiations.

When combining his unassailable logic with his oration skills (a modern-day Daniel Webster) - this work stoppage will likely end before he starts his intro dance.

As insane as it sounds, there would be millions of guys who would otherwise be occupied looking for something to get into.

....Idle hands.
