RE: The goalposts coming down

So, I was on a couple of the goalpost threads debating whether to take them down, or not, and I was pretty much not.

Well, upon further reflection, I was waaayyyy wrong.

Tear those mothers down! It was glorious.
I told you the game would dictate what would happen and the fans would know what to do, and it happened in SPECTACULAR fashion!!

Yes ma’am. I figured emotions would dictate as well, but Saturday exceeded my wildest imagination.

Glorious!

I look at all the BS around NCAA baseball and the celebrations. I am vehemently opposed to grand standing in an opponents face. But, let them celebrate otherwise. That's why the games mean so much to everyone. It hurts when you loose, and you get a huge rush of emotions when you win. VOL Nation deserved Saturday night, and it was epic. GBO!

I too was against storming the field- but it was a sight to behold and got us a lot of press coverage on a weekend where there were several other "field stormings."

As for the goalposts, I don't know how they got them down without someone getting hurt. The leverage on the uprights would have been tremendous. Can anyone explain that to me?

Takes an adult to admit previous opinions were incorrect.

Good on ya.

Oh, and welcome to the dark side. We have cookies.

And soggy goalposts.

does anyone know the fate of the goalposts now? I'm surprised we haven't seen photos of the whereabouts of all the various pieces

I agreed with taking the goal posts down. I didn't agree with casting them into the river! To me that was dumb. Cut those suckers up and do a fund raiser by selling the pieces!

I did wake up Sunday and ask my husband if we won, lol. People who haven't lived through this will never understand how we feel right now.

I know that first chick behind the end zone that made her move onto the field knew where she was going 3 clicks faster than anyone else. She was up and over in a split second!! must be track team. then the two face planted but popped back up smiling!

Idk how they fabricate them but I can tell you it’s changed bc there have been ppl hurt in the past taking them down. I’m assuming they’re made more lightweight but just as strong but idk that for sure.

None of that was pre planed. It was raw human emotion on full display. The majority of the people on that field had no idea they would wind up on the field after the game. True herd mentality just takes over. It was a sight to see.

I was standing near the one in the north end zone when it came down, it dropped with a vengeance. No clue how it didn't hurt someone.
