Is this his third go round for reinstatement?
I thought he gone.

I swear I thought he was dismissed after getting suspended and re-instated the first time.

New coach I guess? I mean, it's the same guy who, despite being a defensive coach (and how good their defense was), I think has pretty much cleaned house on that side of the ball, hasn't he?

For example, that defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski, who it was such a big deal that they got back last last year, and had gotten such production levels and development for them from players (mostly 2 -3 star ones) like Aldon Smith, Ziggy Hood, Sheldon Richardson, Michael Sam, Kony Ealy, Markus Golden, Shane Ray, Harris, Brantley, etc, wasn't brought back for the new staff.

(Btw, can we add him? If that's his result with mostly 2-3 stars, what if he were given our defensive line recruits to work with?)

I think Stripling would have something to say about that.

What an odd series of events

How sure are we at this point if he was actually reinstated now or if the original Columbia newspaper writer just took the news from Mauk's father - that his son was still still attending the school the next semester rather than transferring - and just ran with it?

Outside of the one Columbian Missourian writer and Bleacher report / Sports Nation, has anyone else picked up the story?

I only ask, because another site posted this that same afternoon:

Maty Mauk's dad gives update on QB's status for next year

Maty Mauk remains a student at the University of Missouri and has no plans to transfer before next season, his father said Friday.

According to David Morrison of the Columbia Tribune, Mike Mauk, a high school football coach, passed along details about his sonÂ’s future.

Mauk is 17-5 as a starter at Missouri and played a key role in back-to-back SEC East titles. But a volatile 2015 season included an indefinite suspension that lasted one month, followed by another indefinite suspension.

Rumors swirled about MaukÂ’s off-field behavior. Reports backed that general idea, but did not provide many details.

Mike Mauk has been going through a public bout with cancer.

It will be interesting to see how coach Barry Odom handles the Mauk case. Drew Lock started the remainder of the season as a true freshman. If both players are on the roster during spring practice, new offensive coordinator Josh Heupel could have a serious quarterback competition to sift through.

The report that Mauk intends to remain enrolled at Missouri does not mean that heÂ’s back on the team. But most assumed that Mauk immediately would transfer elsewhere, and that doesnÂ’t seem to be the case.

What was Mauk doing to get suspended in the first place cocaine or weed? Lock sure got quite a bit of experience with Mauk out.

No one knows. Whatever happened the first time, the school/team/coaches kept it private. Only details that were really known (outside of rumor) for sure was that the first suspension came from off the field and it came the weekend after Mauk went home for his father's surgery for Stage 3 colorectal cancer.

The bar scuffle / fight that occurred right after his first reinstatement was what got him suspended the second time (and news of it became picked up publicly by sports media).

My PT Dr has a mizzou booster in his family and when we were shooting the shiz before he got booted he was saying how Mauk needed to chill with the coke and when he got booted shortly after said that he couldn't stop doing it so he was gone
