One Tennessee commitment is relieved some things will stay the same at Rocky Top.

For Illinois offensive lineman Zach Fulton, this has been a tough week as it has for most Tennessee Volunteer fans.

“It hurt us a lot, when we heard that Lane Kiffin was leaving,” Glen Fulton told InsideTennessee.com. “It really wounded us, but wounds heal.”

According to Mr. Fulton they received a phone call Sunday morning that made the Fulton Family feel a lot better.

“Coach Jim Chaney just confirmed with us that he is staying at the University of Tennessee and will be running the offense,” Fulton said. “We told him if he confirmed on staying we are confirmed on staying with the University of Tennessee also.”

Chaney was Fulton’s main recruiter and it’s that relationship that led Zach to Knoxville in the first place.

“Our commitment is to the University of Tennessee, not Lane Kiffin,” Fulton explained. “It’s good to know that someone we trust is still going to be there makes us a lot better about the situation.”

Fulton is now 100 percent committed to the Vols

That is very good news. Keeping some continuity on the coaching staff is very important for some of these kids. I also like the inference that Chaney will be OC. For me, that is very good news -- Chaney is very experience as an OC and developer of QB's.

Yes!!! I guess we now know that Ok States OC is not coming and Chaney will be the OC. I found this kind of interesting because DD said he wants to keep the people he knows for sure will be at UT for a long time. Wasn't Chaney just looking at jobs in the NFL? Anyway I'm very excited he and Fulton are both staying!!!

I think he was checking out to be OC for the Bears....can't really blame him on that one. With the old staff he was just a puppet OC now he is the man!!!!!!GO VOLS

Very great news indeed....not only for news that Chaney is staying and Fulton is coming....but the players at the school and the ones being recruited still have a familiar face along with Coach Lance Thompson. It seems the coaches with ties to Kiffin prior to coming to Tennessee are all severed now. Chaney and Thompson both were hired there but not worked with him before....and Thompson sounded like he was ready to put Kiffin's nose right beside his right ear with his fist.

Aaron Asmus I know was at U.S.C. with Kiffin and Co.....but he can stay....he was all VOL to start with.

outstanding... maybe now we can see just what made him so great at Purdue up 'til '05 there and just why he helped tutor DREW BREES in to part of the guy he is today!

Yeah he had the title OC...but Kiffin was pushing his buttons on plays...now hopefully with this news Chaney has been told he has control of the offensive play calling.
