What keeps Tejas from trying to annex LSU and Arkansas so they can keep their Big 12 together? I say that because Tejas owns that conference. They have the money to make some lucrative offers to those two schools and money talks. LSU has some longevity with the SEC, but Arkansas has a longer history with the old Southwestern Conference. LSU could see the Big 12 as less competitive and easier to win titles.

It would also help their negotiations with TV contracts. And this move also has a negative impact on one of your main competitors, the SEC.

I do not think this would happen, but after the last couple days anything is possible and if I were a strategist in Austin I would certainly see if this were possible.

It would be hard to walk away from the 17-18 million dollar SEC check for the possibility that maybe they could get more $$$, also LSU has already shown they can win championships in the SEC so I wouldn't think they would leave...jmo

to much money involved for any of the SEC teams to leave.... more likely to add a few teams than anything.

Absolutely 0% chance that either school leaves IMHO....the SEC will add schools not lose them

Leaving the SEC= taking a step backwards. SEC homer or not.

Taking in a number of teams is the only real option.

VT, Clemson, FSU, Miami..

Or even WV?

If all the projections play out will the SEC still sit atop the College football mountain?

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Remind me the names of the schools who won the last four national titles.

Hmanvol, you sound like the commissioner of the Big 12 a year ago talking about his job security. Next year he will unemployed. This is not about the past, it is about the future.

Did your crystal ball show six Big 12 teams going to the PAC-10 a month ago? Or Nebraska in the Big 10 six months ago?

All I said is that Tejas MIGHT manipulate the situation and they have the political power and money to do it. If you read my post I stated that I did not believe that it would happen, but I do believe that they may be desperate to save their powerful position in college football and that will not happen if they have to join either the PAC-10, Big 10, or the SEC. Joining another conference WILL dilute their power.

Tradition, history means a jack when it comes down to the money. PAC-10 is negotiating their TV contract soon, adding those schools from TX and OK will give them huge (yes, huge) leverage to get a fat TV contract.

I don't believe any SEC school would even considering of joining the Big-12. SEC is the cash cow right now, and it will be foolish to lay down those guaranteed big bucks for years to come and join a conference which is on the verge of disintegrating and try to get a good TV contract out of it.

I think
the Big 10 will annex 2 Big East teams
the SEC will annex GT, VT, Clemson, and FSU

Big East and ACC leftovers will merge.
