What would you be happy with, 7-5 and a bowl game? I mean I say 7 wins or over and I will be happy for that year. I mean the schedule is brutal and I just hope we win the games we are favored in and one or two we are under dogs in. I think as long as we beat Vandy and the rest of the teams including Mizzou that we lost to this year plus the WKU and lower level schools we face CBJ will have exceeded my expectations for that year. Maybe we get lucky and beat SC or UGA and get 8 wins at best but I def hope for wins against Vandy, Mizzou, Uk, Auburn and the low level teams we face.

As long as there is improvement week to week and not making same stupid mistakes from game 1 to game 8. I'll be happy.

My realistic expectation is to have people that ...

Tackle
Give Effort
Dont act like Bray
Beat someone they are not favored to win

Not in order but i would be happy to see improvements in this area. I really dont care about the wins and losses next year except for getting to a bowl game would be taken care of by the 4 things above.

I am thinking 7-5. I hope we soon get to the point that any game at home is considered a win for us. USCe and UGA both come into town next year. Two games for Butch to make a statement to the fans and the SEC.

7-5 and a bowl win would be a good start to show that CBJ is the right man for the job and going in the right direction. I think this upcoming year is tougher than the schedule we had this year.

Over the top expectations makes me want to see us win the last of the BCS titles, so we can book end that era of national titles before we get into the playoff system. ; )>

8-4 at best, 7-5 more likely. Pretty sure we will have a team that competes for 4 quarters every game, and that improves every week.

I think they can actually go 7-5 with a bowl win, depending on how much the defense improves maybe another win somewhere.

Very tough schedule next yr.7-5 or 6-6 , but compete and go to a bowl game and win t would be a start. of course 14-0 would be great and Jones would get a lifetime contract.

Next year is going to be tough. I'd love to upset Florida or Bama though. Also, win a couple of SEC games?

New system plus a brutal schedule coupled with not knowing what our recruiting class brings makes it a tough call this early.

I want to see a team that plays hard and improves weekly. We must beat somebody we are not favored against.

Ill give this crew some slack to get established but Ill not be happy if we don't hit 6 wins and a bowl trip.

By the end if spring I think we'll know more about where we stand.

Not being a Negavol but I don't see where you guys are getting these 7 or 8wins. We will go 3-1 in out of conference and 2-6 in conference play. Auburn and Kentucky will be our SEC wins. I don't see us beating Vandy or South Carolina. To get to a bowl, we will have to upset Vandy. I can't believe what I just said. I oughta be flogged for that, but this thread is about realistic expectations. I think we got 5-7 for another consecutive year.

my WAY TOO EARLY with very little tangible evidence realistic expectations...

vs. Austin Peay W (blowout)
vs. W. Kentucky W (somewhat tough game--win by 14-21 points)
@ Oregon L (compete early and fade late--sounds familiar)
@ Florida L (we play them relatively close--10 points or so)
vs. S. Alabama W (blowout)
vs. Georgia L (take them to the wire again)
vs. S. Carolina W (first big win for Jones, SC offense not great, our OL neutralizes
their strength which is DL)
@ Bama L (we get thumped)
@ Missouri W (Should've beat them this year. our coaching upgrade=we win)
vs. Auburn L (Malzahn's O gives us trouble and they have recruited well on D)
vs. Vandy W (perfect storm for Vandy in 2012...we have a better roster)
@ Kentucky W (they have no talent)

We finish 7-5 and hopefully win the bowl game to get us 8 wins

I think we could beat Missouri as well as Auburn and Kentucky. If we also beat Austin Peay, WKU and S. Alabama, that's 6 wins. We just need to pull out one more victory to make it 7.
I just want to see improvement. Especially on the defense.

I'm with some of the other guys.... my ultimate expectations for 2013

1. Better game management and consistent improvement throughout the season
2. win a game against one of the current upper level SEC schools (UF, UGA, Bama, USCe)
3. Go to a bowl game (hopefully win it)

serious? vandy game was a give up plan and simple it was a message sent to dooley "hit the road" and i honestly think brays where it all started...how he could put up good numbers against other sec teams and do so poorly against vandy for real? no one wanted dooley around anymore and didnt wanna go to a bowl and him possibly be around for another season!

i see 6 to 8 wins next season and a bowl game GO Vols!!
