An incredible journey: Former Carver standout Riyahd Jones travels long road to achieve SEC dream | Carver | Columbus Ledger Enquirer

This really sheds light into the mindset of this young man. I can't imagine what it would have been like to have heard Inky Johnson's story about losing your career abruptly while staring at that reality yourself.

I have major respect for Jones. Go get it, Riyahd.

Good stuff DC Vol,hope the kid plays lights out and stays healthy.

Now we finally have a better idea of his injury which was serious but thankfully didn't involve blood clotting.

A plus two week on CB depth, not bad.

wonder where this leaves Sutton? That kid has been ballin! Regardless, this means we have a lil depth at CB now!

I didn't realize he finished spring practice as the #1 corner on he depth chart. Says a lot about him and the rest of our corners as well. Hope he makes an impact.

Practice report from Tues was Sutton/Williams at CB with Coleman at Nickel. Jones/Foreman are probably depth for now.

However, this also opens up more fierce competition for starting spots so this is very good, all around.

It's always best to err on the side of caution. The way Riyahd and Maggitt's situations were/are handled are probably earning points with CBJ from a family standpoint.

Parents will know that CBJ will watch out for the health of their child instead of, say, rushing them out to play on a crucial late-game drive after the player was hit hard, puked and then couldn't stand up straight.

The last few words of your last sentence sounded like a typical Sat. night at Reese Hall when I was at U.T.

I will say this, CBJ with Foreman, Sutton, Williams, Johnson, and Jones has in one year fixed the major lack of speed in the backfield. We are young, inexperienced, and don't have a great lock down CB yet, but we do have depth with a S*** load of speed.

I watched them you tube videos of Riyahd doing his workouts he looks like a very hard worker that wants to do good and make the best of his UT career. I wished all our players had his mind set and attitude. GO VOLS!

So a 6 month injury and he is football ready in 7 weeks???? Wow.....

He has access to rehabilitation facilities most people couldn't dream of. UT is 1st Class in this regard, on-field record notwithstanding.

Of course, this is where personal drive and genetics that doctors can't ascertain come in. He busted his azz to rehab himself and get healthy. Jones deserves a lot of praise for his drive, based on what Butch and this article are saying.

Butch called him the hardest worker on the team, IIRC.
