For those of you who have recorded the game, it is obvious Meachem had an incredible game, it is about time for these highly touted receivers to play to their potential...

The thing I am most impressed with is the way they blocked downfield, a couple of examples:

Austin Rogers took out a linebacker on an incredible hit late in the second quarter to set up a touchdown.

Swain signaled to Meachem on the ensuing TD to go behind him on a block leading the path into the checkerboard.

On Monterio Hardesty's run, Meachem blew up the safety for Cal leading the way for his incredible run.

Guys, if we get this type of blocking the rest of the season, it will be a great season.

I think back to the days of Cedric Wilson, Peerless Price, Marcus Nash and others who excelled at blocking downfield, there is no doubt we have the talent but if they focus on the Neyland Maxims of playing hardnosed football when you aren't the man with the football, good things happen.

i did notice a lot of physical play from the receivers. this tells me that trooper taylor is the man, and we got some boys that like to get out there and whoop some arse

I think our receivers outshined everyone with their play last night except for our Defense....It looks like Troop has the boys playing to their full potential and not dropping balls that they should catch as was the case last year.....Ainge looked really good, I think last night was one of the best games I've seen us play overall...Our defense was really great, I'm glad our LB's stepped up.....Jerod Mayo looked real good, so did Karl....I'm excited about this year now

They're way more physical than they were last year.

sounds like it. did we improved on the miss tackles like in years past? one thing i loved about Tennessee football was the gang tackling, everyone was swarming to the ball.

That was the one play that really jumped out at me during the PF Show replay today. Without his block, no way Hardy gets six. Combine that block with two great YAC runs for TD's, and Meach had one of the great games by a receiver in TN history.

Actually Meach had two blocks on that play, he blocked at the point of attack and then when he saw Hardesty was still up he ran in front of him and laid the next guy out. Honestly I didn't realize how big and physical Meachem is. You tend to forget he's a fast 6'3 210 and a physical mismatch out there when you don't have coaches who utilize him. There's a reason why the guy was the #20 player in the country coming out of HS. He's always had all the talent in the world he just needed a coach :)furious3: Pat Washington) to get it out of him.

I thought the same thing when I was watching the replay.
