This is just my take - I really don't think Butch is "losing the team" or the guys are "quitting". I did see every snap of our last two games.. but heres what i think it is.

We are one of the youngest teams in the country playing one of the most ridiculous scheds in CFB history (thanks fulmer- but I still love you, hamilton). Think about this - Ohio State hasnt played a top 10 team since 2009 - Auburn will be our fifth this year. We have played 3 top 10 teams on the road, 2 of which will play for a NC, the other being a pretty good Florida squad. We play on energy in emotion. The 102k really can help inspire a young squad to play beyond their years and potential.

Am I saying we beat mizzou if that game is in neyland? More than likely not, however I gaurentee it is a much different game.

I am not riding off a Vol win this saturday, and I am as realistic as they come. A major issue will be Auburns ability to get speed to the perimiter on offense, but I'll let Butch worry about that.

Get behind this team guys, we're hitting our bumps in the road, but it is all apart of the process. I expect us to be competitive against Auburn in the fourth q with 102k screaming fans to help keep the guys fighting hard.

That's all I got - GO VOLS:hi:

OSU beat #8 Arkansas 2010-2011 Sugar Bowl
*They are also 30-7 over the past 3 years and 8 victories over ranked teams during that time.
I don't think your issue with OSU is valid.

I simply stated the fact they havent played a regular season game against a top 10 team since 2009.. that is a fact.. therefor is valid. maybe i didnt emphasize regular season, but if you cant differentiate #24 northwestern #22 iowa and #18 wis. against #1 bama #2 ore #5 UGA #9 mizzou and #10 Auburn then your a moron.:salute:

I agree with you about their out of conference scheduling. And it will only get worse with Urban Decay there. As far as their team and players, they can only play who they play. 30 wins in 3 years ain't bad.

I hope you're not being serious about still loving Hamilton. He's just as much to blame for our recent decline as Fulmer or anybody else.

I assumed that was an ironic and very sarcastic remark, but....

I hate OSU for one reason, they are favorites of ESPN and I have to hear about them 247. OSU and many others such as ND have begged for this 4 team playoff system, so come 2014 when they have played no one and get embarrassed by a real SEC team I'm going to be all smiles. Oregon and FSU are the only two teams that can even argue that they should play over Bama if Bama were to lose a game by the end of the year; otherwise, Bama should get the node to play in the NCAA championship even if they do lose a game. The SEC is brutal, especially in the west, and completion should factor into championship contention so none of us have to see another ND vs Bama game.

UT is NOT one of the youngest teams in the country! That is wrong and nothing more than a cheap excuse. Practically all of the linemen--offense and defense--are SENIORS! Our starting middle LB is a veteran, and are starting safeties are second-year guys. In fact, outside of the offensive skill-posiiton guys, we have a veteran team.

Arkansas was somewhat over ranked that year.

All other "ranked" teams they've beaten were only ranked because they had decent records due to playing in a weak conference. Beating Northwestern, Michigan, MSU, Iowa, Nebraska, etc doesn't mean near as much as it did in the '90's. Yay, we beat Northwestern on the road when they were ranked in the teens! Now what are they ranked? How many losses now? And in what conference playing against what strength of teams? Therefore, OSU's SoS is consistently weak, and this poster makes a very valid point, that at no point in nearly half a decade have they played any truly elite teams. If they did (Nat. Championship game back some years ago), they get throttled.

Ergo, valid point.

If you look at Ohio State's SOS over the past 4 seasons, as if it were all one big season, they'd rank 34th in the nation.

Also behind these Big-10 teams.

12. Wisconsin
30. Nebraska
32. Michigan
33. Iowa

And behind every SEC team but KY and Vandy who would both play high school teams if the SEC commissioner would let them schedule them as their non-conference foes.

Ok they have only played 1 opponent in the Top 8 since 2009. Does that make them better?

It is sad when a poster defends Ohio State's record on a UT Board and does so with a weak argument and with total disregard to strength of Schedule or the SEC conference as a whole.

We are one of the youngest teams in the country

We are? Really? We have an O-Line that is 4 seniors and 1 junior. Most of our defensive front 7 are seniors. Over half of our starters are upperclassmen, right? How are we one of the youngest?

At least we have some experienced depth in the kicking game.

Our Kickoff Specialist, Placekicker, and Punter are all seniors!!! :)

Should we let Palardy take over all the other positions, like Agent Smith in the Matrix? If somebody hadn't false started, he'd have had a long TD run earlier in the year.

People said this EVERY year when Dooley was here. That's exactly what it is, an excuse. It's like we have to have all 5th year seniors starting to not be considered young.
