Congratulations to Arian Foster for becoming the first running back in NFL history to rush for 100 yards in each of his first three playoff games (Houston Texans get 140 yards from Arian Foster to beat Cincinnati Bengals in AFC wild card playoff game - NY Daily News). If I recall the graphic correctly from the end of the Texans' game with Cincy, Foster has amassed 425 yds. rushing in those three playoff games, which is also the highest total for the first three playoff games of any running back's career.

This is awesome and I'm happy for him.

That said its more of an interesting stat than it is a record broken.

Way to go Mr.Foster keep it going all the way to the Super Bowl. Once there at the big dance, please don't fumble the ball at the most critical time in the game when it counts the most like you did at TN. :whistling:

Deerpark, he is alluding to Arian’s references to speaking pterodactyl, the vocalizations of a flying reptile of the late Jurassic period (see Arian Foster Requests This Press Conference Only Be Conducted in Pterodactyl, Please - SBNation.com and Translating Pterodactyl With Arian Foster | Bleacher Report). Considering the fact that Pterodactylus died out as a species roughly 148 million years ago (Pterodactylus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), it is amazing that Arian was able to retrieve the “language” from across the mists of time (wink, wink).

I understand that part of it, I was responding to the second half of the statement.

In the 90+ year history of the NFL, no player has ever done it. How is that not a big accomplishment?

I'm more surprised that it hasn't been done before rather than see it as a monumental accomplishment. Good for AF, but I have a feeling it is one of those stats that only UT fans will know about.

Too be fair sportscenter covered it this morning.

I am not hating on the guy at all. He was interviewed on Fox yesterday, and I enjoyed it very much. But, I agree that "record breaking" is probably a bit generous of a description for his accomplishment.

It isn't a record, so it can't be broken. It wasn't held by anyone before. Yes, it is a first. It is historical. It is significant, but it is not "record breaking."

AF has done a lot to establishment himself as an outstanding RB in the NFL, but I'm not sure this really makes any sort of statement about his greatness. To me, it simply says he's the feature RB on a good team that is committed to running the ball. That team has made the playoffs three times during his prime, and he has played well each time.

A 100-yard game is a good day for a RB. In the playoffs, it's better. But, it isn't THAT big of a deal. It's more of a "one run on five hits over eight innings" kind of pitching performance. It isn't a complete game shutout.

The Texans made the playoffs last year and this year. Last year their qb was hurt and they started a rookie (Yates) so the Texans relied on the OL and ran the ball....effectively, I might add. They beat the Bengals then got hammered by the Ravens.

Nice accomplishment but not record book worthy.

I realize that, but if you ask this question next year, not many people will know the answer. That's my point.

Oh I agree, which is why my post on the first page basically said that this was a great achievement but not really record breaking. I was actually surprised that they gave it the time they did on sportscenter. It's great for AF. He has accomplished some amazing feats in the NFL. Now lets just hope he can destroy my least favorite NFL team, the Patriots.
