Since the season has started Ive not been keeping up with the recruiting as much. Are there any players with commitment dates that are coming up that we have a chance at getting?

Need this guy to go along with McKenzie on the interior. McKenzie, Tuttle, Barnett, and Hendrix would possibly give us one of the best defensive lines we've had in a long, long time.

I also think it would seal the deal with Kyle Phillips. He is high on us, but has expressed his desire to play somewhere that is ready to win now, vs rebuilding. Either way, I think we got a good shot at landing this kid, and I believe he would help us immediately on the field. Hopefully he can see that UT is getting closer and closer to competing for the SEC as soon as next season. Even most so called "experts" tend to agree with that.

None.

Recruits do not make life altering decisions based on a single win. Most did not even grow up TN fans.

The coaches have invested countless hours over years to pitch UT to them. That is what works, not a single great road win.

But it sure wouldn't hurt. :)

Not to be a Richard but these random threads bother me. In the RF we have a miscellaneous football talk thread, an off topic thread, and a thread for each game. These non-standard recruiting threads drive me nuts. Again sorry if I'm being a Richard.

Soapbox.... vacated.

Eggsactly. Random threads makes this forum a 2nd football forum. That would be a travesty.

Yes and No... different recruits have different areas that appeal to them. You are absolutely correct that recruiting is primarily based on building solid relationships, but some guys don't want to come to a school, no matter how much they like it, if that school is in a rebuilding phase, or lacking stability within the program. A big win over OU, or any other high ranked program, would possibly go a long way with a recruit that values competing for championships from the time he steps on campus. South Carolina was a big win for us last year, and we need another big win or two during this season to show recruits we are definitely on our way to where this program once was.

I think this originated on the island of misfit posters from the FF. Why did Freak have to jettison these weirdos on us?

I open these thinking maybe it is an interesting commentary or article, but it's just some muck thinking out loud.

We don't really target the same recruiting areas... OK really targets TX for most of its recruits and we are in the SE.. This is great exposure for UT in primetime

I think some of these get started in the FF but then get moved over here because of it being a recruiting topic.

But I agree

I usually read the first page and never return, but sometimes I dabble in the rest of the thread when I have nothing to do
