Some have asked about the contact period between now and NSD. If this is already posted sorry. But basically between now and Jan 16th all a coach can do is call or write the recruit. They can have no in home visit or visit at their school until after that. The only exception is a player that is enrolled already for the spring. Which means they already have to have their paperwork submitted and signed their scholarship offer. So basically any EE that hasn't signed the offer for the spring can not not be visited now until Jan 17th and I believe that is the first day of school for them so it would be a moot point now. So basically EEs are pretty much done unless a coach wants to call them.

Definitions per the NCAA:

Dead Period
The college coach may not have any in-person contact with you or your parents at any time in the dead period. The coach may write and telephone you or your parents during this time.

Quiet Period
The college coach may not have any in-person contact with you or your parents off the college's campus. The coach may not watch you play or visit your high school during this period. You and your parents may visit a college campus during this time. A coach may write or telephone you or your parents during this time.

The calendar shows all contact period between now and NSD, with the exceptions below for quiet and dead period no player can be contacted, except by phone or letter until Jan 17th.

Thanks TW.

You think you guys get Gholston? What about James Stone? CJ Mosley?

I am frustrated in that I think if UT misses on Corey Nelson, Josh Shirley and Christian Jones we will miss also on CJ Mosley and LeDarious Owens and we will have lots of NFL coaches who have not enough talent to coach at LB.

Color me disappointed.

We have been on Gholston since before he commited to MSU. I think the fact that J Hankins is very interested now and plus the season M Ingram had for us is really helping out for the pipeline to Michigan. If Gholston and Hankins both come on the 15th I think we get both. Also how we do in the game on the 7th will also have some impact.

In regards to Stone we still want him bad along with Arie. CJ Mosley has been a high priority from the start. After that we stop with Fulton and Dunkley I guess if we get them, but I have my doubts with both of them.

I also think C Jones might end up at UT. I know FSU has been his leader for a while but I think the Bowden deal gave him an out and wouldn't be surprised to see him in Knoxville next year. I really like CJ Mosley but I think C Jones is a better pick up if you can get him.

Even with Stone and Arie if we can pick them both up, it will not compare to the OL class UT will end up with. There are still so many top OL on the board that UT is still in for that whoever they land it will be probably the best OL in the 2010 class for any school.

I think he meant the coaching is there but they need the talent so they can coach it.

Yep. And it is stunning to me. If I was a prospect Alabama obviously has tons of tradition and I would believe that Saban is staying and that he is a great coach who has tons of talent already there and who will give me a good shot at a National Title and NFL money.

I would be concerned about depth at Alabama in that there are so many great players there who would be ahead of me. I would also recognize that as a stud LB or whatever the position I am unlikely to be a hero in that I will not be the next T Cody or Heisman trophy winner.

That makes some good schools trying to get great more attractive in that you can be the hero.

For whatever reason, it appears possible that TN will not have a stud LB to play under freaking Monte Kiffin and Lance Thompson. I cannot for the life of me understand that.

were not getting either Gholston or Hankins...Hankins already narrowed it down to OSU and Florida and Gholston is a pretty hard commit to MSU.

Gholston may taking an OV to UF. If Powell bolts for USC it would not surprise me to see them get Gholston.

Dorsey may not make it in with grades though, and with Elam to FSU the UF secondary will be devastated next year with Haden and lots of others declaring early.

You might want to read the latest on the Spartan boards. It looks as if Gholston is a soft commit now, even he is playing ot off like he isn't. Last week he was interviewed and said he is now taking some visits and still looking around. That was from a Michigan newspaper in Lansing. It stated he will be at UA for a visit on Jan. 15th, also the interview said that J hankins would be there with him. Whether they come or not I could care less but that was reported last week. If UA can get Gholston on a visit I think we(UA) gets him. I really could care less about Hankins, but Gholston is a beast.

Read and believe what you want but on signing day Gholston will be a Spartan.
